When God opens the door...

My colleague and I have wanted to bring our military transition seminar to the UK and Europe for almost 10 years. Well, this year it finally happened!

What a treat to be at Mildenhall in the UK with my friend and colleague, Susan Thompson! We are fortunate to have the opportunity to speak with some of America’s finest senior leaders!

It has been a collective opportunity to share and learn. I must give a shout-out to the 100 FSS for their fantastic support this week! Loved meeting and hearing the stories of our wonderful participants—Such capable and skilled individuals!

More pictures to come of our time here as we venture off to explore!

I just spoke in front of one of the best motivational speakers in the world—Les Brown! How does that happen? But God.

In my keynotes on effective networking and building ideal relationships, I tell people to be willing to give without the expectation of receiving anything in return. Plant seeds, plant seeds, plant seeds, and when you need something, more than likely, it will be available somewhere in your network because you were a giver first.

Another tip I share is that joining organizations is a great way to network, but don’t just join, get involved. Be a giver first, and it will come back to you.

I practice what I preach. I joined my professional organization, the National Speakers Association, and I got involved. When asked to take on leadership roles, I said yes. Fast forward, in my role as a leader, I found myself speaking on a stage for one of the NSA chapters during Influence. I had no idea Les Brown was going to be in the audience! Les spoke on the main stage and, did a breakout session, and attended and spoke at the Black NSA Awards banquet. Not only was he a member of the audience, now that I think about it, I shared the stage with him!

If you look closely at the picture, you will also see Kim Cole from Living Single sitting right in front of the podium. I can’t make this stuff up, ya’ll! And I must give the credit to God, who puts me in places I have never dreamed of being.

I also give credit to my dear friend Kara Kelley. She was taking photos and as she said it, she happened to be in the right place at the right time to catch this photo. I had no idea she was taking it!

Grateful for my friends. Grateful for YOU!

I came across this article several years ago and just re-read it. I still think these are great tips. I hear a lot about the Big Five, but according to this article, gratitude outranks them!

I do have a gratitude Journal and find it extremely helpful. What hit me today was #4 about unexpressed gratitude. Perhaps you will find value in this article as well.

Ingratitude is toxic to you and destructive to your future. Gratitude delivers unequalled benefit.

Thankful for the Opportunity!

The Waterbury Regional Chamber did a phenomenal job putting on their 41st Business Women's Conference.

You could feel the electricity in the room the moment you stepped through the doors of the Aqua Turf Club. Each person I spoke with was warm and welcoming.

I will have fond memories of my very first time in Connecticut and the fantastic people I met. A shout-out to Lynn Ward, the President & CEO of the Waterbury Regional Chamber, whose leadership kept the event on schedule, and Barbara Sorosiak, who made sure every detail was in order. A big thanks to all of the board members and volunteers who worked to put such a grand event together!

I learned something from each of my fellow speakers, Robyn Greenspan and Alisa Hunt. It was an honor to meet and share the stage with the fabulous Joan Lunden! She treated everybody as though they were somebody...and they are!
