The History of Dremana Productions
THE WINDY CITY
Over the past 18 years, Dremana Productions has grown organically at an extraordinary rate. If you weren’t aware, Dremana Productions wasn’t always in the business of creating unforgettable brands and campaigns on the Internet through marketing, imagination and cutting-edge technology. In those days, if you would have asked around historical Chica
go music venues such as The Double Door, Elbo Room, or The Metro – you would have heard, “You mean Dremana, the band?”
That’s right. This company was born from a rock band. Yes, young grasshopper. Now things are starting to make sense…
Here’s how it went: In 1997 Sharington and Klizentis made a commitment to change the world together by communicating their ideas through words, music, and image. At that time, the catalyst was music. Both emerging from previous musical careers, they swiftly actualized Dremana’s debut CD and decided to construct the band’s website before putting out the word that the band was searching for players. While other bands were busy tacking “bass player wanted” tear-offs to Guitar Center’s corkboard (pre-Craigslist mind you), Dremana was creating their ultimate image using photographs of other artists the duo had previously worked with to portray the precise impression they were in search of. In order to execute such a task, Andre approached it like anything else “Spam” does: read the manual from cover to cover. Ask questions. Work; all the time, bearing in mind… slow is fast. When Dremana launched their band’s website, the response was instantaneous. It wasn’t long before all the members that appeared in their vision were in place and the group was playing to crowds on Chicago’s most acclaimed stages. Dremana already owned a progressive digital recording studio that other bands investigated and imitated. Dremana self-produced photo shoots, video shoots and stage media. Grace and Spam (Andre became known as “Spam” during this period) made the decision to trademark their brand and incorporate their multimedia company Dremana Productions in 2000. Under the guidance of an extremely successful business mentor, the entrepreneurial journey was just beginning. THE LAST SLICE OF REALLY GOOD PIZZA (for awhile)
The winter prior to Grace and Spam going South – literally – was a time of company assessment. It was 2005, and they had managed to double in financial growth every year solely by word of mouth. Dremana Productions had reached a certain point: that first summit in which they could see the entire horizon and imagine taking this company on a world tour. Via the Internet. LONE STARS AND SUPER STARS
Why in the world did this company move to Austin, Texas you ask?
• Any city that calls themselves “The Live Music Capital of The World” is worth a try.
• Spam didn’t get the name “Spam” from junk e-mail. He is a carnivore of the nth degree… delighted by ANY product that even resembles meat. The best BBQ is found in Texas: HELLO!
• Grace was (and still is) obsessed with SXSW, The backyard of The Four Seasons, and the great big skies overhead. That’s just a few examples from her “100 reasons I love Austin” list.
• They flipped a coin to decide whether to stay in Chicago or move. It landed on tails. The quarter was a commemorative – and the illustration on the tail side was a great big star pinpointing the Texas State Capital. Dremana Productions still claims a certain space on Chicago’s west side near the intersections of Chicago and Grand Avenue. Their close friend and guitar player maintains a large industrial building in which their original recording studio and sleeping room remain. When Spam visits Chicago he works out of this location. However, as we have long-passed the end to the Mayan calendar, it is apparent that moving the company’s base camp to Austin was a very smart move. The relocation allowed DP to invest in a house where they built another recording studio and began hiring employees and entering into partnerships with a diverse and exclusive group of companies. Again, they experience what it’s like to grow rapidly without the use of set advertising. Today, Dremana Productions has successfully launched entire brands from concept to revenue stream. They have created websites, commercials, press campaigns, product launches, marketing strategies and custom software applications. They have provided help to America’s leading steel and metal operation, a top architectural firm that has delivered some of the world’s most recognized structures, America’s most tuned-in constitutionalist radio host, members of platinum selling bands, and thought leaders in the areas of art, luxury travel, music, financial planning and technology. They even have made friends with the City of Austin itself, creating video content and documentaries for various city departments. The founders of Dremana Productions have discovered through their journey thus far, every project is a different adventure. Yet one thing remains the same: people want to be heard. Dremana Productions has always possessed the ability to get the others to listen.
