Trying to help everyone will keep you broke. I know that’s a bold statement but it’s true.
I talk to so many coaches and consultants who tell me that their ideal client is “ALL Businesses”...
I’m gonna let you in a secret. Everyone is not your ideal customer, everyone doesn’t want to work with you, and even more importantly, you shouldn’t want to work with everyone.
I call this the “Generalist Trap”
When you are a generalist, and you describe yourself as such, you automatically lose value in the eyes of your ideal client.
If you describe what you do for example as a Weight Loss coach, or a Mindset Coach, or a Business coach, you aren’t getting paid what you are worth. Period.
Let’s Contrast that with the following.
Weight Loss coach
Vs
I help busy entrepreneurs get to their ideal weight, so they can have the energy and vitality to grow their business to new heights.
These two coaches could be doing the same thing for their clients, but #2 will get paid more.
I have 2 questions for you to answer to escape the Generalist Trap
1. Who do you want to work with specifically?
2. What high value problem can you solve for them?
That’s all I have for you today. Have a good one.
