The problem isn’t ambition.

The problem is when your ambition costs you your health and happiness and any semblance of a life.

For most of my life, I chased success.

I married the successful man.
I built the successful business.
I hit the milestones I thought I was supposed to hit.

And from the outside, it looked like everything was working.

Then one day I asked myself a question that changed my life:

“Do I actually want this?”

Not the business.
Not the relationship.
Not the life I’d spent years building.

The answer surprised me.

I was miserable in my relationship.

I hated being on call 24/7.

I deeply craved community, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

And I was exhausted from working so hard only to spend my free time fantasizing about escaping my life on the next trip.

(And I couldn’t even escape then because I was still on call 24/7)

That’s when something shifted.

I stopped asking, “How do I make this work?”

And started asking, “What do I actually want my life to feel like?”

Peace.
Freedom.
Connection.
Time for the people and things I love.

Once I got honest about that, the decisions became obvious.

The hardest part wasn’t changing my life.

The hardest part was finally admitting I wanted a different one.

For me, the first three things people probably associate with me are personal branding/business, being child-free by choice, and building a life that genuinely feels joyful and fulfilling to me.

Those are the things I naturally talk about because they’re already a daily part of my life. I have strong opinions about them. I genuinely care about them. And that’s exactly why they work as part of my personal brand.

The supporting characters on my feed?
My daily hojicha.
My cats.
Mirror selfies with my to-do list.
Random life updates and little moments that make people feel like they actually know me.

We seriously need to stop overthinking personal branding.

Your personal brand is not just a logo or curated aesthetic.

It’s the themes, opinions, values, and interests that consistently show up in your life and content.

The things you can talk about endlessly without forcing it are usually the exact things that make you stand out.

Some days being an entrepreneur feels like a dumpster fire - but most days it’s so damn liberating to have the freedom to build a business that you’re proud of… and report to a super cool boss (yourself) 😎
