I think one of the funniest things about being a woman is realizing how much people decide about you before you ever open your mouth.

We’re all guilty of it.

I love beautiful clothes and beautiful spaces. I cry easily. I’m sentimental. I want the house and the garden and the great love story.

I’m also ambitious, analytical, stubborn, adventurous, incredibly comfortable walking away from something that no longer fits, and apparently interested in voluntarily riding a horse across a desert.

None of those things contradict each other.

Maybe that’s one of the best parts about getting older: you stop trying to make yourself easily categorized.

You can be soft and shrewd. Ambitious and domestic. Adventurous and deeply attached to home. You can want the career, the love story, the garden, the passport stamps, the whole damn thing.

There is zero shame in wanting it all.
