One year ago today I was considering an altered course. Something that could use parts of me I’d discovered had been lying dormant.
The parts of me that had friends from every click at school and begged for them to meet eachother.
The parts of me that taught others how to be brave and take on new opportunities and shine, while I watched and sheered them on.
The parts of me that noticed a loner , but saw a friend.
My whole life I have rallied to make others stand out and to bring strangers to a table and call them family and friends.
Before I even knew what marketing was ….. I was living it.
This story by Becky Hemsley helped me to break free from my OWN worry that I was too much and not enough. It spoke to me , as I had spoken to others,
There is only one you …. And the world needs
To hear what you have to say.
So I took a leap. I borrowed money to re-educate myself in the world of marketing and allow what makes me ME, to shine.
I learned how to build websites - a creativity that I can focus so deep into that I accomplish it in greater speed than the average web designer.
I get to be artistic and make beautiful and functional pages that make others shine.
I learned how to run Facebook Ads and market businesses and help other’s dreams to come true.
And in so doing …. I was building mine.
Marketing is my jam. Because it’s not just marketing. It is a song and dance, it’s cheering , it’s creating , it’s building , it’s loving to help others succeed.
And I love doing it.
“I looked up the word ‘yellow’ the other day.
I found so many shades of yellow that they had been distinguished by words like
gold
honey
daffodil.
I found words like fire and sand and champagne and lemon and sunbeam and I even found a song.
Now imagine someone telling yellow that it’s ‘just yellow’.
When yellow is a sunbeam and a daffodil and fire.
When yellow is a song.
Without yellow, we couldn’t make orange and we couldn’t create green and our world would be far less colourful because of it.
Yellow’s true colours are not limited to one thing.
And neither are yours.
Some days you are dark and fiery and intense.
Some days you are rich and bright and vibrant.
Some days you are buttercups and dandelions and some days you are champagne and a song.
And without you, someone’s life would be far less bright and far less beautiful.
You are you as
yellow is yellow.
And the world needs you.
Because, no matter what you think, you are not ‘just you’.
You are so much more.”
