Born June 6, 1960 — this man didn't just learn guitar. He redefined what a guitar could do.
At 12, he was studying under Joe Satriani.
At 18, Frank Zappa — one of the most demanding musicians in history — hired him and called him his "stunt guitarist."
By his 30s, he had shredded stages with Frank Zappa, Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake.
Then came Passion and Warfare (1990) — an album so technically and emotionally overwhelming that it changed instrumental guitar music forever.
3 Grammy Awards. 15+ million albums sold. The man who invented the 7-string guitar era.
Steve Vai didn't follow the rules of guitar — he wrote new ones.
