The other day I saw an article on a YouTube creator who got called a charlatan by a lowlife journalist who couldn’t even substantiate her claims. She just wanted more views. Needless to say, I let him know about the issue, and suggested he talk to a lawyer about litigation for libel.

You need people to visit your website. You need people to buy from your website, and you don’t want to be 100% reliant on ads. That’s where SEO services come in.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, as you probably already know, but what does that mean? How do you optimize your site for a search engine to make it rank higher in search results?

Well, let’s break this down. There’s a saying that people don’t look past page one of the search results, maybe page two if they’re desperate. However, if you want to be found in the search results, you need to be in the Top 3 listings on Google for your search keywords.

Did you catch that?

I said, you need to be at the top for your search keywords. In the 90s you could just stuff your keywords everywhere on the page a bunch of times to rank, or use the meta keywords tag. Those days are long gone, and now you actually need to work for it. Don’t worry though, the plugins I’m going to show you will take out a LOT of the guess work so you can focus just on the keywords you want to rank for.

SEO Services: All In One SEO Plugin

AIOSEO is a plugin that lets you set your focus keyword, and find long tail keywords to rank easier. It effectively gives you a dynamic checklist of things to finish to make sure your page is SEO optimized. It also has readability and SEO scores on the post edit screen and the list of posts.

Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO is an alternative to AIOSEO, and there are subtle differences between the two. If you find that one doesn’t fit your needs, try the other one. They both have premium options, and they both have proven very effective from what I’ve seen. As a former journalist, we used Yoast SEO services to help our articles rank, and it worked wonderfully.

W3 Total Cache

W3 Total Cache speeds up your website so that people actually stick around. See our guide on website speed optimization to lean more about speeding up your site, and keeping it optimized. The speed of your site over time plays an important role in how well your site ranks. If you have the world’s slowest site, then why would Google make you #1 in the search results?

Semrush

Semrush is one of the most well known tools for serious SEO. It comes at a fairly high price tag, but they’re number one for a reason: it gets you the data you need. From competitive analysis to site audits, and SEO services for keywords, it really has everything you need.

Google Search Console

Who better to learn how well your site is doing, than from Google itself? The Google Search Console shows you how many “search clicks” your site is getting over time.

Website security is the difference between you losing control of your website, or standing strong. Not all security goals need to cost money, and in this guide, you’ll learn about some free tried and true ways to secure your WordPress website.

All In One WP Security
I’ve only ever used the free version of the AIO WP Security plugin, as it has everything I need, and I’ve been using it for as long as I have been building WordPress websites. It literally does a huge amount of work for in a security plugin. Here are some things it does that are very important, but there are many more.

- Blocks user enumeration
- Provides a Web Application Firewall (WAF)
- Makes the login system use generic error messages so you’re not leaking as much intel to hackers.
- Blocks brute force login attacks
- Prevents your site from appearing inside of someone else’s website through Iframes. (Ex. A phishing site)
- Provides 2FA options

OWASP Top 10
OWASP and SANS are synonymous with application security. If you have been in the field for any length of time, you will have heard about these businesses. Both provide things for free, and both provide loads of free information to help you secure your business.

The OWASP Top 10 is the list of the most prevalent security problems as of the year they come out with the list. (About every 3-4 years) The list for 2021 is the latest as of writing this, and below are the items on that list. These are in order of most prevalent, to least prevalent, starting with the most prevalent first.

- Broken Access Control
- Cryptographic Failures
- Injection
- Insecure Design
- Security Misconfiguration
- Vulnerable and Outdated Components
- Identification and Authentication Failures
- Software and Data Integrity Failures
- Security Logging and Monitoring Failures
- Server-Side Request Forgery

You’ll want to deep dive into these to make sure that you’re not affected by these, by using things like the OWASP Zed Attack Proxy (ZAP)

OWASP ZAP
OWASP Zed Attack Proxy (ZAP) is a tool to test your website for vulnerabilities, including those on the Top 10. The Top 10 is more of an abstract list of items, including ones you may be unfamiliar with, so the free OWASP ZAP tool will use its implementations of ways to investigate if you’re vulnerable to any of those items. Website Security is a field of its own, but if you just want to know where your website is weak, and use one of the tools many hackers user, then check out OWASP ZAP.

Other Things To Use
These are just some of the tools you can use, and I recommend looking into the following other tools you could use to secure your website.

- W3 Total Cache – There are lots of security heads, such as CSP, HSTS, and others.
- CloudFlare Free – Protects your DNS, and protects you from DDoS attacks, and more.
