How will searching on social media change as these platforms continue to evolve?

Here in the US, hashtags, followers, and certain phrases are just some of the pieces that go into search algorithms on social media.

Across the world in China, social media and e-commerce platforms are using very sophisticated search algorithms to allow users to search social media posts for recommendations.

Influencers in China are using targeted keywords and search optimization to achieve higher rankings.

In addition, these search features often take number of followers, comments, and reposts into account when rankings.

Right now words and key phrases seem to be the best way to find the content and recommendations but could that change?

We’ve already seen Google implement a search by photo feature where you can upload and image and see related images.

What about transcribing audio from videos into text? Could that find a place in future search algorithms?

How do you think searching on social media will evolve as these platforms try their best to ensure their users get the best, and right, recommendation?

Influencer incubators.

It’s one of the fastest-growing trends in influencer marketing in China.

While most business people would think of startups when they think of the word incubator, there is a new association for that word in China. Influencer incubators.

Over-supply and product scandals have made it difficult for consumers to trust traditional advertising in China. So instead, they turn to influencers and key opinion leaders.

This has turned the influencer economy in China into a $15.5 billion industry and created a market for influencer incubators.

In fact, one of China’s largest influencer incubators Ruhnn has even raised $125 million following an IPO.

Many say that the Chinese influencer market is much more developed than the US market.

Will the US market ever see influencer incubators as influencer marketing continues to evolve?

Yesterday, we discussed how Instagram saves can help you increase your post visibility.

There is so much more potential for saves though.

You can also save other user’s posts to build your own collections.

Think of this as your museum of your favorite posts.

Instagram also allows you to quickly organize your collections into as many folders as you want. This is a great way to group similar content or aesthetics.

A few ways we use this feature at Trend is to create mood boards for future posts as well as to keep all of our favorite content in one place.⁣

How do you organize posts that you like?

What are the most important engagement metrics on Instagram?

Most would say likes and comments.

If you just focused on those two, however, you’re missing out on the whole picture.

Instagram saves, the often forgotten metric, also has value for engagement. In fact, saves are another engagement metric that Instagram’s algorithm takes into consideration when deciding who should see your post.

Similar to likes, the more saves you receive, the higher the chances people will see your post.

Here are a few great ways to get people to save your content:

⁣☑️ Using your caption as a microblog⁣
☑️ Sharing your favorite tips and hacks
☑️ Simply asking your followers
☑️ Creating content that provides value

What are some ways you get others to save your posts?

Augmented reality (AR)

We saw this new tech rising in popularity at the end of the decade.

And it's going to become increasingly popular in influencer marketing.

One of the tools leading the charge? Facebook's Spark AR Studio.

What is Spark AR Studio?
It allows anyone to remix their reality through the creation of augmented reality filters available on Instagram and Facebook. While there is a slight learning curve, creating AR filters is a great way to grow your following while also adding some spice to your feed!

In addition to creating whatever you desire, you have to follow the creator’s account in order to use their filter. This is a two for one - you get to create and use your unique filter AND you gain followers since everyone else will want to use your creation.

How do you think AR will intersect with influencer marketing this decade?
