ICYMI: Austin ISD held its first ribbon-cutting for the 2022 Bond projects earlier this month, celebrating the renovated open-concept learning spaces at Odom Elementary School! 🎉

Students performed the school cheer, campus and district leaders gave inspiring remarks and guests toured the new spaces. In addition to the renovated learning areas, the campus received a new main entry complete with upgraded security features, administrative offices, a school mental health center and a community pantry.

🙌 Congrats to Austin ISD and the Odom Eagles on this major milestone!

Congratulations to Emergency Services District 8 on passing Prop A! We’re proud to have supported the public education efforts that helped bring this initiative across the finish line and keep the greater Georgetown community safe and strong.

Now that voters-approved Prop A, ESD 8, in partnership with the Georgetown Fire Department, will be able to keep tax dollars local, fund new fire stations, add essential crews, and invest in life-saving equipment. Job well done! 👏

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor and recognize the contributions, influence, and culture of Hispanic Americans throughout US history. Austin has a plethora of Hispanic-owned businesses and organizations dedicated to enriching the community so to wrap up this celebration, we wanted to shoutout some of our favorite locals!

El Mes de la Herencia Hispana es un momento para honrar y reconocer las contribuciones, la influencia y la cultura de los hispanoamericanos a lo largo de la historia de Estados Unidos. Austin tiene una gran cantidad de negocios y organizaciones hispanas dedicadas a apoyar a la comunidad y para cerrar esta celebración con broche de oro, queríamos darles un shoutout a algun@s de nuestros locales favorit@s!

🎊Marshall Middle School celebrated its grand opening on Oct. 4! 🎊

Over 300 guests joined Marshall students to honor the school's namesake, Dr. Garwood Marshall, and his wife, Marion Lavon Marshall. There was even a special hymn performed by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., of which Dr. Garwood Marshall is an Omega chapter member.

The open house included tours of the new spaces, performances by Austin High, LBJ ECHS and Northeast ECHS, and food served by the Navarro ECHS BBQ team.

Y'all means all! 🌈🌟 As members of the LGBT Chamber of Commerce, we'd like to take the time to shoutout some incredible, local organizations putting in the groundwork to create a safe space and uplift Austin's q***r people through accessible resources, opportunities and community building. We encourage the outpour of support during this celebration extend beyond Pride Month. Help us ensure Texans can thrive openly and safely!

- This clinic focuses on healthcare that provides free testing and check-ups in Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio

- An organization that amplifies women and q***r makers and creatives through interactive events such as pop-up markets, conferences, and social meet-ups

- A full scope non-profit centered around activism and equity for q***r people of color. They also host art shows and wellness seminars.

- Out Youth serves LGBTQIA+ youth to develop and flourish into happy, healthy, successful adults

With 13 acres of revitalized green space, biking trails and pedestrian bridges overlooking Waller Creek, this project will play a crucial role in connecting downtown Austin and expanding public parkland.
