BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (JUNE 26, 2024) IMCA A Mod Driver Brad Pounds will be racing this Friday in his TIRE MAN KT RACING A Mod in the Richie McGowan Memorial at Bakersfield Speedway. This race is close to Brad’s Heart because Richie McGowan was his father-in-law and sponsor. Richie McGowan was a winning driver and one of the biggest sponsors of dirt racing on the West Coast. Brad won the race in 2023. Brad’s Father, Scott Pounds the 1994 IMCA National Champion is the crew chief and builds the motors. Brad and Scott work closely on the car, continuing a family tradition that started in the 70’s.
Pounds will be running a limited schedule in the TIRE MAN KT Racing GRT A Mod for the rest of this year. They plan on running The Mike Moshier Memorial on August 17th at Bakersfield Speedway, The Bud Nationals at Bakersfield Speedway on October 11-12, and The Duel at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. KT Racing is working in partnership with Pounds Motorsports with marketing partners: Tire Man, Skinny’s Automotive, Valley Decal, RealFast.TV, and Incognito Design.
Pounds is a multi-time champion at Bakersfield Speedway who started driving at the age of 15 in a Hobby Stock, winning 6 of 9 races. Thus, the number 15 he runs. The B on his door comes from late model driver Brian Birkhofer, who also ran the #15. Pounds was coined the “Dominator” by Bakersfield Speedway Announcer Mike Moshier because he has inked over 100 IMCA Wins (100th on May 10, 2014) and has won most of those races at Bakersfield Speedway. In 2011 Pounds won both IMCA A Mod and Late Model Races at the Bud Nationals. Pounds has over 30 Late Model Wins in his racing career. He also raced at Mojave Valley and won the IMCA Modified Track Championship in 2006. Pounds Dominated in the Street Stock Division at Bakersfield Speedway in 2007, winning 28 of 34 races and the championship. Pounds also has multiple California State IMCA Championships, has won the Race of Champions at Boone, Iowa, and finished 3rd in the IMCA Nationals.
KT Racing has been involved in racing since 1987. In 1997 they fielded their first NASCAR Super Late Model at Mesa Marin Raceway and finished 8th in points. Some of the drivers they have worked with over the years are two-time NASCAR K&N Champion Mike Duncan, Mesa Marin Track Champions, Dan Holtz, Brandon Miller, and Eric Richardson, Street Stock Champion David Hutchins, and 410 Sprint Driver Heidi Tresler.
The race will be broadcast on Live bakersfieldspeedway.tv and tape delayed on RealFast.TV.
