The 4th Annual Humanitarian Awards Gala will be held Saturday, September 19th, Poolside at the Ramada in Barstow. Our Island theme will include some great food and entertainment featuring The Bluescasters, in a casual setting, with Shorts and Hawaiian shirts suggested as the attire of the evening. Tickets will be available to the public for $35 in advance, $40 at the door, including dinner.
The Awards are given out to various non-profit groups and organizations, as well as businesses and individuals who have gone out of their way to help better the High Desert community and the people who live there.
Among the award categories are the Phyllis and Buzz Sawyer Humanitarian Award, Lifetime Achievement, Service Organization, Philanthropic Business Award and several others. New categories wil include Local Churches, New Non-Profit who’s been around for 3 years or less, Youth Organization, and several new categories Military, Local Churches and the Honorary Wayne Soppeland award to honor a Business or Business person who has done more then their share to help the community.
The public is invited to send in their nominations in any or all categories. Nomination forms are available at the Desert Manna office, the Barstow Chamber of Commerce and on the Desert Manna Website at www.desertmanna.com.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available with levels that can accommodate your company’s budget. A Silent auction will also be held during the event, and donating an item or two is another great way to promote your business.
Proceeds from the event and auction will go to the Desert Manna Food Bank which helps many individuals and organizations fulfill their needs.
