WHEN THE GOVERNMENT CUTS YOU OUT, CUT YOUR COMMUNITY IN!!
December 4th, we are throwing an emergency benefit for our friends at Needlepoint Sanctuary (Needlepoint Sanctuary Maine ) at the Old Town Theater (The Old Town Theatre ), just outside of Bangor. Needlepoint Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization based out of the Bangor area who work tirelessly to realize the meaning of the word sanctuary within our community, and in doing so reduce the harms associated with drug use, poverty, and social inequality.
They operate a syringe access and disposal program out of Bangor, providing access to sterile syringes to reduce the spread of Hepatitis and HIV, rapid testing for HIV & Hepatitis, narcan, wound care and referral to wound-care service to Bangor’s population! They also organize community cleanups and provide folks with the support they need to navigate detox, treatment, housing and recovery. While others stand by with cameras to demonize and make a spectacle of Bangor’s struggling houseless population for online clout, Needlepoint Sanctuary actually steps in to help.
Needlepoint Sanctuary relies on federal funding to run its operations, and unfortunately with recent federal funding cuts to crucial social programs they have lost their grant. And so, we’re throwing a benefit! Come out to the Old Town Theater Dec 4th and catch
