Chad Troutman and Andrea Michel have built more than the Lowcountry’s largest indoor golf simulator facility, they have created a welcoming gathering place. For the past twelve years, DragonBoat Beaufort’s annual Dragonboat Race Day filled Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park with colorful teams of paddlers in dragon boats, the rhythmic beats of drums keeping time, and the enthusiastic cheers of spectators. This year, however, due to temporary closures of key areas in the park, Race Day is moving. And we could not be more excited!
On Saturday, June 27th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., DragonBoat Beaufort’s 13th Annual Race Day will take place along the waterfront in Port Royal.

Growing up in southern New York state, our home had an apple tree on one side and a lilac bush on the other. The tree, a remnant of an orchard once on the property, was perfect for my father and brother — both avid golfers — to take turns hitting lob wedges over to each other, while the immense (and immensely fragrant) lilac bush doubled as a playhouse for my toddler sister.
