Happy National Black Dog Day! 🐾🖤

Meet Daxter!

All of my adult life, I’ve had a special love for Black Labs. I’ve loved many over the years, and every one has held a place in my heart.

They never live long enough, but the love they return is wonderful—and stays with us long after they’re gone.

Daxter is two years old, a rescue, part of my daily routine, part of my why, and a much-loved member of my personal and Windward office family.

Today, I’m celebrating him and remembering all the Black Labs I’ve loved along the way.

A message from Founder Jeanne Porter:

Three years ago, on April 18, 2022, I lost my beloved daughter, Kim Porter. It was the hardest moment of my life.

Through faith, I found peace — and a way to honor Kim’s beautiful heart, her love for people, and her deep commitment to serving her community. As she served, her love spread to children at the Boys & Girls Clubs in Ramona and Julian, California, where she helped create those clubs to pour into the lives of young people.

We created the Kimberley Porter Scholarship Fund to help women in need pursue their education. Now, our dream is to expand the fund to award a scholarship to a female high school senior preparing for college — giving her the chance to step boldly into her future.
