I was 20 years old on 9/11. I was the early-morning breakfast cook at the Slo Pitch, where the news was always on at that hour.

It didn't take long for the whole place to quietly watch the day unfold. The news anchors were completely unscripted, as events kept us on high alert.

You could have heard a pin drop in there.

I didn't have a cell phone yet, so I remember looking for quarters to use the payphone between the kitchen and the seating area to call my parents, who answered with a "We know."

My apartment was right across the entrance from Boulevard Park (where there is now an empty lot. The next morning I woke up to fighter jets cruising up and down the coastline.

It was a surreal and sad time. People will tell you how wonderful it was that all Americans came together, but let's not forget the unfair targeting of Middle Eastern citizens and neighbors around this time as a result. Yes, many of us saw through our differences to be as one, but let's also not forget that we othered an entire group of people as a result.

Let's never forget that our need to point a finger can be very damaging. And of course, let's never forget those who lost their lives, the helpers, and the first responders who risked and lost their lives.

Okaaaay. Here we are again. Bad week for the legends.

As many of you know I performed in a live Rocky Horror Picture Show as Janet (DAMMIT!)!

And they say you can judge a person by who is their favorite version of Tim Curry.

Tim was one of the greatest actors to ever live. It was common to hear people say “that was HIM?!”

He also loved his fans and participated in cons in spite of health complications for YEARS!

You’ll be missed Lord of Darkness, Rooster, Frank, Pennywise, Wadsworth, Hexxus…..
