✨ What is SUCCESS to you?

I recently got into a deep conversation with my own thoughts because this year has been such a wild, amazing year for my career.

When I got laid off and decided to do my own thing back in 2016, I never thought I would have worked with over 100+ different clients across different industries. I never thought I’d have clients say, “I am so lucky I found you”. And now in 2020, I never thought that a pandemic is when I would be the most helpful for clients or that I would ever be this consistently busy.

Am I where I want to be? Absolutely not. Yet that’s the beauty of owning your own business. You get to determine where your end goal is, create your own challenges, milestones, and the best part - celebrate achievements 🍾🥂.

I feel the most successful when I know my clients are over the moon happy with what I was able to create for them, when they see their own profits go up because they chose to invest in their brand, and when I get referrals ofc.

Success means something different to everyone and that’s totally ok! Quite frankly, I’m considering rebranding and updating my portfolio after 4 years of putting it off a HUGE success 🤣.

Complete branding for clients such as The Collection, Park 20/360, DMI Holdings, and Summer Breeze USA. As well as supporting branded collateral ranging from websites to stationary for Jay Chris Management, Centre Living Homes, Indio Management, and Nice Link Home Furnishings. I might've even somehow found time to design a Vent-A-Hood tradeshow booth for KBIS.

I might be too busy to update my own personal portfolio, but thankfully I've helped RocketBrand design and launch their new website which features this work!

And too many ads, business cards, stationary, social media posts, and invitations to want to count 😅 Its no wonder I haven’t had time to update my online portfolio.

I am self employed y’all. My head can’t even begin to wrap itself around how God provided for me in 2017.

Pat and I joke about how I used to cry asking God for work when I first took the “self-employed” leap & now sometimes I cry from the stress of “too much” work. It’s a lot, but it’s never truly “too much”; God doesn’t ever give me more than I can handle.

I am incredibly grateful for the creative entrepreneurial gifts that God has given me. Incredibly, incredibly grateful. I know that even if 2018 isn’t as “busy” as 2017, He’s given me a gift and putting people in my life that I can help. Being “busy” isn’t something I’m striving toward in 2018, but helping other people launch, market, and be successful in their careers is.

Recently helped Silk Skin & Body Spa put their best face forward with a new brand identity!

Silk is a new spa in Temple, Texas that focuses on skin care, body treatments, and massage therapy. Knowing that first impressions are everything, they needed a logo, print collateral, and a mobile friendly website that communicated quality services with a personal touch.

With +230 convenience stores in seven states, CEFCO Convenience Stores needed a new website that allowed customers to find their gas station locations easily, while also promoting in-store deals, and showcasing career opportunities.

Being self employed is bitter-sweet.
The long hours, late nights, and stress of unpromised income; I often look cool and collected on the outside 😎 but on the inside I'm a mess of emotions with anxiety usually finding it's way to the top of my long list of to-dos 😅📝✅ But the truth is, it's worth it.

Yes, as a graphic designer I get to work from the comfort of my home or wherever there's free wifi, do good work for good people, choose my hours, and be my own boss at 24 💁🏼 But honestly the most rewarding thing about what I do, is that I am home everyday to see the love of my life walk through the front door.

You see, the thing about stress and anxiety is that Satan wants you to focus on everything that is going wrong to keep you stressed, negative, and doubting your own ability. Whenever God wants you to focus on everything He has already made right to give you rest and Him praise for everything you've done because HE is able.


I know not everyone is self employed, but I do know everyone faces stress and anxiety from work. So my prayer for us as we all enter a new work week is simple 👉🏼 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" 1 Peter 5:7-9 💕
