🎨✂️ Calling All Treasure Hoarders (a.k.a. my friends)! ✂️🎨
I am taking a couple of art journaling classes that require recycled materials — which means your clutter could become my masterpiece. (Yes, this is the permission slip you’ve been waiting for to clean out that drawer/closet/attic.)
I am in search of the following:
🦁Life, National Geographic, and nature magazines – Because nothing says “art” like a lion staring into your soul.
📝Old postcards and letters – Bonus points if they’re juicy, but even “Dear Aunt Mildred, the weather is fine” will do.
📸Photographs – Any subject, or none at all. (Am I the only one with a blurry thumb collection?)
📚Used children’s books – Crayon graffiti included, please.
🏋🏼♀️Coffee table books – The bigger the better…they double as weights.
📕Old yearbooks – Because we all secretly love retro hairstyles.
🗺Brochures/ads/tickets/maps – Vacation memories I didn’t take but would love to glue down anyway.
🎲Games with missing pieces – Let’s give that lonely Sorry! board a second life.
📘Textbooks (math & science especially) – For when I want to look extra intellectual while doodling flowers.
🏫School notes/classwork – Bonus if there are doodles in the margins.
👩🍳Recipe cards – Preferably the kind with mysterious stains.
🗃Greeting cards – Yes, even the ones signed “From, Mom.”
📊Graph paper (actually any paper) – I promise to draw outside the lines.
🌺Books with botanical images – Because plants are always in style.
🎨Wallpaper books & scrapbooking stuff – Let’s get decorative!
🌱Garden magazines/seed catalogs – I won’t plant the seeds, but I’ll plant them in my journal.
📠Old appliance manuals – Who knew microwaves could be inspirational?
📚How-to books – “How to Build a Shed” could become “How to Make Art.”
📂Used file folders – Give me your tired, your scribbled, your slightly bent.
🎀🔵🗳AND ALSO (because why stop there?):
Ribbon, buttons, trims, thread, yarn, embroidery hoops/floss, buckles, clasps, hardware, bottle caps, and any tin or wooden containers that are too good to throw out but too weird to use.
Basically, if you’ve got it, I’ll probably try to glue it, sew it, or tape it into an art journal. Help a crafty soul out and let me know if you’ve got a pile of potential magic! ✨
