Nothing brings people together like fresh Mississippi seafood!

Through sponsorship support from MDMR's Mississippi Seafood Marketing Program, attendees at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic Kick-Off Party enjoyed a taste of Gulf Fresh Mississippi Seafood, including shrimp, flounder and oysters.

MDMR's cooking team prepared freshly boiled shrimp and fried flounder, while Holy Ground Oysters and Eagle Point Oyster shucked and served fresh oysters on the half-shell.

Events like the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic provide valuable opportunities to showcase the quality, freshness and flavor of Mississippi seafood while supporting the fishermen, oyster farmers and seafood businesses that help drive our coastal economy.

Congratulations to Chef Dalton Ferguson with Elvie’s in Jackson for being named 2026 King of Mississippi Seafood! Dalton will represent Mississippi at the Great American Seafood Cookoff in New Orleans in August. We are also excited for Chef Kenneth “Chef III” Casey III with Flava Crave Catering for winning second place and Chef Raven Allen with Liz & Nomie’s for winning third place!
