Every business has a story.

Most people are too close to their own to see it clearly.

Lynn Darmon has built an incredible business helping others find clarity and connection. But behind that business is a personal journey that most people never get to hear.

This piece in Bold Journey Magazine beautifully shares that.

That's one of the many reasons I love my work.

Congratulations, Lynn.

I hear this all the time.

“PR is just writing a press release, sending it out, and getting coverage.”

If only.

PR starts way before the release goes out. It starts with a conversation.

Who you are.

What you do.

What you’re actually trying to sell.

How to position it so the right people pay attention.

Then we sharpen the angle.

Tighten the messaging.

Build a media list that’s actually built for you, not pulled off some recycled spreadsheet from 2019.

Then we pitch.

Then the follow-up starts.

Sometimes it hits right away.

Most times it doesn’t.

It takes emails, calls, texts, and a level of polite persistence most people give up on by week two.

That’s the part nobody tells you.

Good PR is part strategy, part stamina, part knowing which reporter actually cares about your story on a Tuesday at 10am.

If you’ve been blasting press releases and hearing crickets, that’s not a you problem.

That’s a process problem.

Let’s talk.

The Washington Times didn't call Scott Beaulier because he got lucky.

They called him because when reporters need someone who can speak to tariffs, automation, and the economy with clarity and conviction — he's the person they think of.

That doesn't happen by accident.

It happens because we built the positioning, stayed consistent, and made sure the right people knew exactly who to call.

That's the work I do.

Congratulations, Scott. 👏

The longer I’m in this industry, the more I’m amazed at how many people truly don’t understand what PR is… or what actually goes into it.

I know a lot of people think it’s a pretty easy process.
We have a conversation.
I write a press release.
I send it out.
You get media coverage.

I wish it worked that way.

And for those of you doing your own PR or having ChatGPT write a press release and sending it out, let me offer a little bit of a reality check.

When you’re working with a publicist, there are multiple conversations before a press release ever goes out. We’re making sure we’re telling the right story, finding the right angle, and asking if it’s actually something the media would be interested in.

Oftentimes, I’m even touching base with media I trust as a sounding board before we pitch.

Then there’s the media list. And let me just say i’m not pulling from a generic database. Every list is curated based on the client, their location, the story we’re telling, and the outlets that actually make sense.

For example, right now I’m representing an economist and a psychic medium.
Those could not be two more different worlds—and obviously require completely different strategies and media lists.

Trust me—it’s not a couple hours and you’re done kind of thing.

If this is making you rethink how you’ve been approaching PR, let’s talk.

I spent the morning watching my client Julie Feldman of Guys N Gals on FOX 2 Detroit, talking denim trends and previewing her annual jean trade-in event this Saturday.

Julie's store isn't a national brand. But she does have a great story, a real point of view on her category, and a fabulous community event worth showing up for.

When you know your story and how to tell it, it's amazing what opens up.

If you've ever thought "my business isn't big enough for press," or "I don't know what my story is," we should talk.

Segment + event details in the comments.

Here’s the thing about media coverage, it doesn’t just happen because you’re great at what you do.

If it did, a lot more really talented people would be getting the visibility they deserve.

There’s strategy behind it. Timing. Positioning. Knowing what’s actually worth pitching — and who to pitch it to.

I talked about this with Maria Verdeschi PsychicMediumon her podcast Hello From the Other Side. Worth a listen: https://mariaverdeschi.podbean.com/e/joan-frank-the-power-of-intuitive-pr/

I want to share something a little different today.

About a year ago, I was introduced to a social worker who had experienced profound grief. She lost her mother at a very young age, and later, her son to su***de.

We initially talked about PR, but the timing wasn’t right, so we paused.

A year later, she came back.

And this time, we didn’t start with PR.

We started with her story.

For the past five months, she’s been sending me thoughts. Ideas. Sometimes just a few bullet points.

And from there, we started building something together.

I truly believe this workbook and the book to follow have been inside her for a long time.
Finding the words just wasn’t easy.

Today, that work has become a 72 page grief workbook designed to help people navigate something incredibly complex.

And here’s the part most people don’t see…

She didn’t come to me with a finished manuscript.

She came with pieces.

My role was to help shape it.
Give it structure.
Turn it into something clear and usable, without losing the heart behind it.

Honestly, I feel honored that she trusted me with something so personal.
These are the moments that make this work so meaningful.
It’s built on trust. On relationships. And meeting people where they are so we can create something that truly reflects them.

That’s the consulting side of what I do.

This kind of work is why I love what I do.

Building what’s worth promoting before PR even begins.

And when the work is ready, that’s when the PR begins.

Friday is a huge day for client, John Patterson.

He is an AI expert and truly brilliant at what he does. I’ve secured many segments for him and Fox2 Detroit, where I’ve seen him explain really complicated ideas in a way that everyone can understand.

When I brought him the idea of applying to do a TEDX talk it was game on. On May 1 at TedXpontiac John will present his talk, “Ask anything: AI, Emotion, and Influence.” I can’t wait. I know he is going to WOW the audience.

If a TEDX talk or speaking opportunity is something you’ve been wanting to explore let’s chat.

DM me and we’ll take it from there.

In the meantime, tickets are still available for this Friday. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tedxpontiac-2026-where-adversity-meets-innovation-tickets-1980294597449?aff=oddtdtcreator
