Craft’s on 280: a family-owned fast-casual restaurant on Birmingham’s Hwy 280

This renovation added a new tower element to improve visibility from the highway, a covered drive-thru canopy, a walk-out service door, and a new outdoor patio with fans, heaters, and TVs for year-round dining and sports viewing.

Inside, the existing lay-in ceiling was removed to create a more open and modern dining atmosphere.

🌮 De Nada: Tacos, Margs, & Mas 🍹

was designed as a warm, authentic Mexican dining experience rooted in tradition, family, and community.

Embracing the character of the existing warehouse, the space blends natural wood, encaustic tile, rattan, steel, and stone with preserved original elements like salvaged tile and wood ceilings.

Family photos and a custom hand-painted mural by Emma Gilbert Art add personal storytelling throughout the restaurant.

Inspired by the surrounding Parkside neighborhood and nearby baseball stadium, an exterior service window activates the streetscape on game days, while natural light, cacti, and succulents soften the industrial interior with a rustic yet contemporary feel.

Thirty years ago, Tammy Cohen founded CCR with a vision to build a boutique design firm dedicated to strengthening and connecting communities. Not long after, Karen Reynolds, Richard Carnaggio, and Roman Gary joined her, sharing that same vision.

As the firm has grown, we’ve remained committed to that mission. With Scott Burnett, Lissy Frese, Jacklyn Loquidis-Hamric, Brian DiRusso, and Mika Carpenter now a part of the partnership, and a collaborative team alongside them, we continue to work as a small, responsive firm providing unique, customized design solutions.

When complete, the renovated complex is set to be one of the premier racquet facilities in the region.

Highlights include:
• six brand-new pickleball courts
• a fully renovated clubhouse
• upgraded locker rooms
• expanded outdoor patio and lounge areas

Today officially marks CCR’s 30th anniversary, and we celebrated by giving back!

Our team spent the morning planting hibiscus at Fountain Heights Farms and packing meals for children at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama.

We’re proud to support and , and are excited about our ongoing work with Fountain Heights Farms on their Neighborhood Market.

Cheers to 30 years and to continuing to invest in the community that has helped us reach this milestone.
