TJ (left)
Being the uncle, he’s likely acting as a protector or lookout.
Stallions (or older males) often hang near family groups but don’t always lead them—that role is usually the dominant mare.
His thicker build and stance give off that “I’m watching everything” energy.

Pixie (middle)
She’s probably the lead mare of this little band. Correct me if I'm wrong.
In Assateague herds, mares run the show—deciding where to graze, when to move, and keeping the group together.
Her position in the center is classic leadership/anchor behavior.

Journey (right)
Younger, a little more cautious—standing slightly off to the side is typical.
Younger ponies tend to stay close but not crowd the dominant mare.
That white marking makes her stand out—great identifying trait.

Zoos like Salisbury only keep bald eagles that:

Were injured in the wild
Can’t hunt or fly properly anymore
Would not survive if released

So when you see them, you’re looking at wild birds that got a second chance. Not animals bred just for captivity. 🦅

The Salisbury Zoo is a very unique place.

It’s known as one of the largest free zoos in the United States.
The zoo is located inside Salisbury City Park, so there are walking trails, picnic areas, and a playground nearby.
A nonprofit group called the Friends of the Salisbury Zoo helps fund improvements, animal care, and education programs.

I took a step away from photography for a while and got back into the hospitality industry. Between a full-time job and my own little family now, I don’t get out nearly as much as I used to. And when I do, I barely have time to even edit my photos.
But here’s a shot I captured out at Assateague of the ponies during a sunset. Moments like this remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. 📷🌅

Lake Summit’s biggest historical significance comes from its inclusion in the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes—a series of interconnected natural lakes linked by canals that were developed over the early 1900s. These canals were originally created to improve transportation and commerce (particularly citrus shipping), and later became key for boating, recreation, and community life.

It covers about 66 acres and is somewhat oval in shape with a couple of small coves on its north side. The lake lies at about 131 ft above sea level and is surrounded largely by residential neighborhoods today.
