OK, since this has been happening quite a bit more lately, I feel it necessary to mention a few things to remember when you call for our services.
When you ask for a price, have an idea what it is that you are doing, what you are working with, and be able to answer some general questions to ensure that we are able to choose the best material for the most reasonable price to achieve the desired results. Don’t just call for a price without being able to tell us what you are working with.
Here’s the reason I’m bringing it up.
I just received a phone call from someone wanting several prints to frame and hang on a wall. Well, we can do high quality prints on a variety of different materials, from posterboard, to vinyl decal or banner material, to artist canvas.
The problem arose when, no matter what I asked about how the print was being mounted in the frame, I got answers to questions that I didn’t really ask or no answer what-so-ever.
So naturally, I made suggestions as to different alternatives. Again, so that I was choosing the right material for the intended outcome.
Oddly, no matter what I suggested or the explanation of the features and benefits, I got little or no response. When I suggested bringing the frames in and taking a look at some of the different options, I got no answer. When I suggested it could be printed on artist canvas which would look beautiful in the home setting, I got no response. When I asked if they were looking for a simple paper photographic print that could be slipped between the glass and the cardboard backing, again, I got nothing.
As this went on, I could sense the frustration with my questioning beginning to mount but, again, how can I offer a reasonable or accurate price when all of these materials differ so?
Of course, the conversation ended with the caller saying, “OK then, I’ll call you back if I have any further questions.”
I hope not.
While I consider myself good at what I do, I am no mind reader nor do I care to play 20 questions with someone who just gets frustrated by my questions. Remember. There is no such thing as one size fits all. At that point, it would almost serve just as well to say, “I want it cheap as possible.” At least then I could’ve suggested another company better suited to meet that specific need.
To me, this would be like calling a car dealer and asking him how much is a car, without being able to tell them what kind of car you’re looking for. Or in other words, a Yugo ain’t no Caddy, nor are the prices going to be the same.
