Many thanks to Americana Highways for reviewing the debut album by Spike and the Gandy Dancers, "What You Gonna Be?"

"With the title track drenched in deep sousaphone, Peter tackles a sound that was the domain of Marc Campbell’s 1980’s critically acclaimed RCA band The Nails. Songs like “Darkness Comes Uncivilized,” “She Is Everything To Me,” & “Home of the Brave” have this atmospheric essence & Peter does it here with skill & style. It’s all compiled exquisitely. I like this band."

Thank you to Take Effect for the review of the latest album by Kaitlin Cassady, "North Star"!

"The Minneapolis indie-folk artist and multi-instrumentalist Kaitlin Cassady returns with a sophomore album, where jazz and pop ideas enter the 10 timeless and relatable tracks.

The graceful keys of “Evermore” opens the listen with Cassady’s stunning and emotive voice guiding the soft melodies, and “Golden Hour” follows with flowing piano alongside Milo Weil’s well timed cello."

Today's Tip of the Week is all about Afternoon Printing!

Afternoon Printing is a local studio offering screenprinting services, merchandise design, and online store design. They opened back in 2011 and are co-owned and managed by 2 women, Kristen and Sofie, who have an awesome team of staff working to help clients create merch of all types!

Their screenprinting is done the old-fashioned way with their arms and eyes and they pride themselves in being very involved in every step of the process and ensuring things are done with care and attention to detail. Typical products include tees, fleece, tote bags, bandanas, koozies, patches, and posters but really if you have an idea for something different they'll try to make it happen! Tees average $8-13 per unit and fleece (crewnecks, hoodies, etc) averages $14-$38 per unit, though total costs for all orders will vary depending on number of colors, number of print locations, brand of apparel, setup costs, etc. Standard turnaround time is super fast at 10-12 business days after payment!

Afternoon Printing can also help you design your merch, with in-house graphic design being done at $35 an hour! They can even help you build an online shop for your merch and assist with choosing and pricing your products. They can really do it all!

Contact Afternoon Printing at [email protected] or via the Contact page of their website to get started on an order or have any questions answered. They also have a full page of helpful FAQs on their site as well.

If you need merch, contact Afternoon Printing to support a small local women-led business and ensure your order is filled with the utmost care! Find their website at the link in bio!

Sincere thank you to RNR Magazine UK for the review of "All Hat No Cattle", the latest album by Turn Turn Turn!

RNR is a print-only magazine based in the UK, but you can read the full review here:

"A trio from Minnesota, Turn Turn Turn's third release continues to display their fondness for classic Americana as forged by the likes of Gram Parsons and other pioneers from the 60s and 70's. Their previous album New Rays From An Old Sun was influenced by psychedelia and what Parsons called Cosmic American Music but on All Hat No Cattle (the title a poke at weekend cowboys), they adhere more to country and folk roots. They open with the most adventurous song on the album, 'Antietam', named after 'the bloodiest battle of the civil war. With its a ca****la opening setting the scene for a gospel-like narrative with a strident delivery, it's also the best song on the disc. The countrified 'Last Drink' is reminiscent of The Byrds circa Sweetheart Of The Rodeo while 'Serious' shows off their harmony vocals over some fine honky-tonk piano playing and cities makes use of Los Lobos-like Latino rhythms. While most of the songs were by multi-instrumentalist Adam Levy, singer Savannah Smith gets a chance to shine on her song "Magnolia Tree"which recalls Dolly Parton, while Barb Brynstad turns in a gutsy performance on the barnstorming 'Trouble'." - Paul Kerr

Turn Turn Turn's next Minnesota show is at the University of Minnesota as part of the Thrivent Fan Fest for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games! The full fan fest is a FREE event so stop by for the festivities!

Thank you to Thoughts Words Action for the review of "The Chariot", the latest album by Sawtooth Witch!

"Whether they’re mimicking something renowned greats have recorded and released decades ago or overly experiment with various styles to the point it’s not alternative or indie rock anymore, in the end, many of them sound just the same. Thankfully, there are bands like Sawtooth Witch who know how to do it right. With “The Chariot,” they break all the rules and shapeshift the boundaries of what alternative and indie music could and should be. Pat ‘Doc’ Dougherty and Haley Fleming poured heart and soul into this material, and you can hear all the time and effort invested in these songs. Through deep, poetic storytelling, Sawtooth Witch explore various sentiments, moods, situations, and circumstances, making “The Chariot” a highly relatable material that will immediately resonate with the broader audience."
