I began my journey in adulthood along the path most traveled - Accounting for undergrad, on to an MBA, and straight into the world of corporate auditing… where I quickly found myself sleepwalking through days of calculators, confrontational clients and drudgery. Luckily, growing up in the wild West of rural Idaho imbued me with a fierce sense of independence and self-r
eliance; so when an opportunity struck, I bid adieu to big business and jumped headlong into the work-from-home life with an internet start-up specializing in one of my first loves - Pageantry! (Before you judge, keep reading)
I quickly discovered that while messy buns and leggings all day suited me just fine, I was now responsible for creating the systems, support, and even the schedule that would allow me to succeed (hello, reality check). When the pandemic stopped pageantry in its' tracks a few years later, I had a few non-negotiables in my new job search: working from home was a must (I had a kitten at this point, she needed me!) I wanted uncapped earning potential, and I wanted to be my own boss. Trading on my experience (while also picking up a few new tips along the way) has helped me build a $1.5 million business in just two years, while also allowing me to retire my husband, take dog walk breaks, and enjoy some pistachio ice cream on the couch when I really need it (which was more often than I care to admit).
