My philosophy statement as a Graphic Designer and Artist
My philosophy of my design work is very much rooted in emotion. Emotions are what makes us humans, defines how we react to different situations, how we communicate and defines who we are. My hope as a creative designer is to use my abilities to make someone laugh, to scare someone, to make someone's day easier, and yes, even to make someone cry if the product calls for that response. I want to provoke emotions that are memorable, unforgettable and positive. My end goal is to get people to connect with my work. I believe that it is my responsibility to see the world as my clients do. I want to create designs that evoke emotion and empathy, designs that people can relate to. I want to design products and services that people feel good about. I strongly believe the emotions a design elicits can strongly influence someone’s perception of it. My life’s journey hasn’t always been an easy one, but it has influenced who I am as a designer and artist. I never really gave much thought to the style of my work, so if I had to say, I would say I am an eclectic designer. My graphic designs, illustrations, and photography, each one different, are all part of my creativity and each aspect provoke a different reaction depending on my emotions of the design or product I am working on. The Artist side of my personality is quiet, getting lost in my own thoughts. I love to look for the beauty in the world around me, in the little things, leaving my designs simple and uncomplicated. The Nurturer and empath side of me is all about the best life has to offer, coordinating it into a beautifully mix of creativity and originality, with colors, sounds, textures. And my photography helps me to immortalize my designs. I always strive to incorporate feelings of happiness and harmony into my work. The Adventurer side loves to explore the world around me, the unknown. It allows me to deviate from the “norm” and just live in the moment and gives me a fresh look at the design process. So, depending on my mood, the project I am working on, and what emotion I am expected to evoke, my designs could be uncomplicated, simple, beautiful, emotional, colorful, natural, fresh; designs that best communicate my client's messages to the best of my eclectic style.
