My Sweet Land is a coming-of-age story set against a multigenerational war in the post-Soviet Caucasus Mountains. It follows an 11-year-old boy named Vrej, growing up in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) who dreams of becoming a dentist in his picture-postcard village with its roaming ducks and golden bees. His sweet land, however, is strewn with mines from previous wars, shaping a country that remains unrecognized to the world. Vrej’s life takes a sudden turn when war erupts, forcing him to flee with his family. He spends his days in exile impatiently waiting for victory, but reality takes a different turn; Armenians lose the war. Upon returning to his surviving village, he confronts the devastation, new power dynamics, and education that prepares children for near-future battles. Vrej must learn the rules of war… But can he carry a nation’s hopes on his young shoulders? The film is a testament to the people of Artsakh, where hope and trauma had shaped their resilience across generations.

The 9 Lives of Barbara Dane is an underground history of a singer-agitator overlooked by many storytellers of American history. Overlooked, that is, until now. Barbara Dane's unbending principles guide her through notoriety, obscurity, and finally, music legend. Featuring Bonnie Raitt, Jane Fonda, Louis Armstrong, The Chambers Brothers and more… The film chronicles a trailblazing woman who chose conscience over fame, transforming setbacks into opportunities and forging her own path through art. With singular confidence, Dane emanated the people-powered connectivity of folk, the defiance of blues, and the elemental cool of jazz - using music as a force for change and earning a four-inch FBI file along the way.

What an incredible event at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC this past weekend to celebrate Life Unearthed with Ariel Waldman! Selena and Krista represented the Artemis Team in supporting Ariel at this sold out screening of the show. The icing on the proverbial cake was an actual cake! Yes, that is a tardigrade cake created by Rose McAdoo with each layer symbolizing the 5 major mass extinctions that this hardy, adorable, little extremophile has survived.

Big thanks to everyone who came out to support the show!

Like many of you, we watched the journey of the Artemis 2 crew with joy and wonder. It was especially meaningful for us that the mission shared the Artemis name and carried the first woman to orbit the moon.

There is so much to say about this historic mission, but Christina Koch’s words especially resonated with the Artemis Independent team.

"A crew is a group that is in it all the time, no matter what, that is striving together every minute with the same purpose, that is willing to sacrifice silently for each other, that gives grace, that holds accountable.”

We love this image of Christina looking at our beautiful planet and the words she shared upon her return.

“When we saw tiny Earth, people asked our crew what impressions we had and honestly what struck me wasn’t necessarily just Earth, it was all the blackness around it. Earth was just this lifeboat hanging undisturbingly in the universe. I may have not learned—I know I haven’t learned everything that this journey has yet to teach me, but there’s one new thing I know, and that is: planet Earth, you are a crew.”

We are grateful to be on this crew with each of you.
