This month's "Company You Should Never Work For" is the "6 Minute Bathroom" company, for three reasons:
1) The vast majority of jobs should have performance rated on RESULTS, not TIME. At SurfMerchants we watch the work, not the clock.
2) "Punishing the many for the sins of the few" is straight out of the "Management By Myopia" handbook. If you have an employee who's camping out in the bathroom half the day, you need a new employee, not bathroom swipe cards.
3) There are many tasks where speed is desirable. Urination is not one of them.
At SurfMerchants we designated two of our six bathrooms as "Women Only" (for obvious reasons) and I'd hate to designate another of them the "Express Lane" ... ewwwww!
A local union has filed a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against an employer who they claim is allowing them only 6 minutes a day to use the bathroom.Members of the Teamsters...
