Here's something most small business owners miss: your brand visuals now help decide whether an AI search engine will recommend you at all.

Not your competitors. Not a paid ad. The machine itself, judging whether your brand looks consistent enough to trust.

This week, our Founder Chris Raulf tested Pomelli, a free Google Labs tool, live and unscripted for the first time. He fed it a website and minutes later had a full brand identity.

Here is what stood out:
→ Pomelli scans your website and builds your full Business DNA: logo, colors, fonts, tagline, and tone of voice
→ It generates a brand book, marketing campaigns, and a full website from your existing site
→ AI search engines like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Google's AI Overviews reward brands that look consistent everywhere
→ Inconsistent branding hands those systems a fragmented picture, and a confused AI recommends someone else
→ It is free, now on mobile, and ideal for solopreneurs and new businesses without a design budget
→ What it will not do is replace strategy, the human-driven, AI-assisted work behind which keywords and content you win

The real shift is bigger than one tool. Brand consistency used to be a polish item. In AI search, it is closer to a ranking factor. The more uniform your brand looks, the easier for people and AI to trust you.

Run your site through it this weekend. You might be surprised what it sees.

Most local service businesses are producing great content, yet still not showing up in AI Overviews or ChatGPT results. The reason is often simpler than you think.

Boulder SEO Marketing founder Chris Raulf calls them the big six: the platforms AI search engines rely on most when deciding what to cite and recommend.

→ YouTube: owned by Google and the most cited resource in AI Overviews and AI Mode
→ LinkedIn: owned by Microsoft, a major investor in OpenAI, which means your LinkedIn content is on ChatGPT’s radar
→ Reddit: shows up in nearly every Google search and gives you a direct way to join conversations already ranking on page one
→ Quora: heavily referenced by AI search engines for Q&A-style content
→ Medium: easy to get started on and indexed regularly by AI platforms
→ Google Business Profile: the most locally relevant of the six; post updates consistently

If you run a local service business and you want to be found when people search for what you offer, these are the six platforms worth your time.

AI Overviews are now intercepting a meaningful chunk of organic search traffic.

Single-channel publishing is no longer enough to stay visible in search.

In this week's Friday SEO Tip, Jonn Patrick Chua, Marketing Manager at Boulder SEO Marketing, walks through the exact 5-phase workflow we use to produce a Friday SEO Tip every single week.

One recording.
Seven published assets.

→ Phase 1: Record and edit in Riverside (studio-grade audio, downloadable transcript in seconds)
→ Phase 2: Trigger our custom Claude skill with the transcript and anchor links
→ Phase 3: Receive 12 deliverables in a single pass (meta titles, descriptions, newsletters, social, summaries)
→ Phase 4: Generate the cover image in Gemini and inline visuals in NotebookLM
→ Phase 5: Final human review, then publish across YouTube, LinkedIn, email, Bluesky, and GBP

The output is a YouTube video that ranks, an article that gets cited in AI Overviews, and a content package that hits every platform our audience uses.

Most local businesses have never compared the data on their Google Business Profile with what is actually on their website.

We audit it every week.

And in 2026, that gap is now the single most common reason a business goes invisible in local search.

Google has moved from trust to verification.

Gemini now cross-references your GBP against your website, schema, and every structured source it can read. When sources disagree, your visibility quietly slides.

In this week's Friday SEO Tip, Barb Senkala, our Senior SEO Strategist, walks through the three signals to audit.

→ LocalBusiness schema markup now validates the data on your GBP
→ NAP consistency now extends across every structured source Google reads
→ Your website content must back every service and attribute you claim in GBP
→ Done this week, you are ahead of 90 percent of local businesses in your market

Trust is over. Verification is here.

This week we did something a bit different.

Our Founder Chris Raulf sat down with Jean-Charles “Jason” Dervieux, founder of Scaling Law Firms and a former Boulder SEO Marketing client, for a Friday SEO Tip podcast edition. Jason now runs as a fractional chief growth officer for law firms in the 2.5 to 45 million dollar range.

The conversation was supposed to be a quick catch-up. It went almost an hour, because every topic Jason raised maps to patterns we're seeing across most multi-location service businesses, not just law firms.

A few things that came up:
→ The "$1,000 per Google Business Profile location" pitch some agencies are running, why it builds quiet fragility, and the FTC fine exposure most owners don't know about
→ Why naming your business after yourself is an economic decision, not a creative one, and how it caps your exit value before the firm is even built
→ Why authority is the ranking signal that actually scales across both Google and AI search platforms
→ The 70 to 80 percent zero-click projection for legal queries by end of 2026, and what that means for any service business
→ Why traffic going down can still mean revenue going up if you're targeting the right end of the funnel

Last Friday we did four sales calls. Three of those leads found us on ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity. One came through traditional Google.

Two Google Business Profile updates dropped in two days last month, and most of the SEO world is only talking about one of them.

The second one might be the bigger deal.

Gregory Noonan, our Senior Project Manager, breaks down everything Google just shipped and connects it to the Ask Maps launch from a few weeks earlier.

→ Three new GBP protections rolled out April 16: scam blocking, AI-powered edit detection, and proactive owner email alerts

→ A quiet April 17 policy update banned review quotas and any script that names specific employees

→ Ask Maps now uses your reviews, attributes, and descriptions to answer customer questions inside Google Maps

→ Google blocked 292 million policy-violating reviews in 2025 alone, and one approved edit can tank your rankings for weeks

→ Greg walks you through the four steps every local business should take this week

Your Google Business Profile is no longer optional infrastructure. It is the input layer for local AI search.

3,000 impressions. One click.

That's the exact pattern we found on one of our own pages in Google Search Console last week. And it is almost certainly happening on your website too.

We call these sleeping giants pages ranking for dozens of keywords, pulling in thousands of impressions, and generating almost no clicks for your business.

This week's Friday SEO Tip covers exactly how to find yours and wake them up:
→ Why organic search still delivers the cheapest, highest-quality leads for local service businesses
→ How to run an annual website content inventory that surfaces your biggest SEO opportunities
→ The exact Search Console filter that reveals your sleeping giants in minutes
→ Why AI-generated queries are inflating impressions without driving real clicks
→ How to rebuild a sleeping giant page using the Universal Content Engine methodology

The ranking authority is already there. All that is left is to fix the content so it earns the click.

Our founder, Chris Raulf, walks through each step in detail, including the exact process we used to turn our own SEO price guide page into a consistent driver of traffic, leads, and sales.

Your Google Business Profile is one bad decision away from being suspended. No calls, no map pack presence, no leads. Gone overnight.

William of Green Ease Landscapes & Design in Austin, an 11-year-old business with 95 five-star reviews, learned this the hard way.

In this week's Friday SEO Tip, Fhul Asoy, our Google Business Profile and Off-Page Optimization Expert, breaks down exactly what happened and how our team got his profile reinstated.

→ Why Google is tightening Business Profile enforcement in 2026
→ The nine most common suspension triggers we see trip up local businesses
→ Why you must fix the violation BEFORE you appeal, not after
→ The 60-minute evidence window and two-appeal limit most people burn through
→ The long-term habits that keep your profile safe (NAP, posts, reviews, and more)

If your phone rings because of Google Maps, this is the conversation to watch before you touch your profile again.

We see this all the time.

A business evolves - new markets, new model - but the website hasn't caught up.

That was exactly the situation when a Denver accounting firm came to us. Major shift in how they operated.

Brand new website. Near-zero rankings. And markets they needed to compete in where they had no presence at all.

We built the foundation using our Micro SEO Strategy℠ and BSM Copilot methodology.
→ 10x year-over-year organic sessions and views

→ Homepage rankings protected and strengthened in the primary market

→ New location pages are gaining traction in markets never previously ranked in

This is what happens when your SEO is built to support where your business is going - not just where it's been.
