Not too long ago one of my coaching clients let me know that he wanted to grow his reach and get more people to buy his offer. Being that I had a marketing background, I let him know that I could help in this area. This launched the marketing arm of our business. Monday Marketing Tip: Show Versus Tell

“Trena, you have to show and not tell.” I remember my Professor writing in the margin of my overthought draft of one of my papers. In review, I had quite a few sentences that began with something like “What I am about to tell you will have you wondering… “ I thought I was creating foreshadow. I know it's funny now looking back on it, yet I had to practice the art of showing versus telling over and over in order to be able to move to the next phase in my own writing and marketing journey. Once I started showing versus telling, I was about to get more engagements with my messaging, more people wanting to schedule conversations with me and more people telling me that they thought about my offer when they were ready to activate their idea and share their own message. When we show our audience versus telling in our marketing and storytelling, we open up the opportunity for our audience to use their imagination to visualize the story we are sharing… giving your audience an opportunity to engage with your text in more meaningful and impactful ways. When someone uses their imagination to visualize your marketing, they are putting themselves in the story and creating pathways of remembrance, healing, humor, etc., as a part of their experience. This is the work we want to do when we are marketing our impactful work.

So my marketing tip for this Monday is to be sure to show and not tell in your marketing of your services and impact. You want your audience to be able to imagine what you are sharing and engage with your offerings in meaningful and impactful ways. This will draw more of your ideal clients to you and help you to get more quality leads, generate more sales and grow your business.
