The Upper Blackfoot Mining Complex has been an ongoing cleanup at the Mike Horse Mine in Lincoln since2015...it is located at the headwaters of the iconic Blackfoot river. The mine dam was full of toxic sludge had already failed several times sending tons of waste into the river and killing fish in the upper blackfoot. In addition, the mine still leached toxins from its old adits (shafts) in the water system. The process of painstakingly rebuilding the stream bed through this valley alone is amazing.
They just began the process of installing the signs we designed and will have the final items up in August, including a road side kiosk 15 miles east of Lincoln.
There are a ton of good articles and sites about the cleanup, amazing water treatment plant, pix of the cleanup, etc., but here's one to start for those interested: https://www.mtenvironmentaltrust.org/upper-blackfoot-mining-complex-mike-horse/
I am very proud to have worked on this project with the various and incredible team members and the great people at the Blackfoot Challenge.
