Many marketers are focused on the next postage increase.
The bigger story may be how direct mail itself is evolving.

The organizations seeing the strongest results are combining:
📬 Direct mail
📧 Email
📱 Mobile engagement
🔗 Personalized landing pages
🛒 Ecommerce experiences
into a coordinated customer journey.

Meanwhile, USPS continues introducing promotions that reward personalization, interactivity, and omnichannel engagement.

The result?

Direct mail is becoming less of a standalone tactic and more of a strategic component within a larger customer experience ecosystem.

As costs rise, ex*****on quality matters more than ever.

If you're planning campaigns for 2027, this article outlines the trends, incentives, and operational shifts that should be on your radar.

For years, one of the biggest objections to testing direct mail has been cost.
USPS may be changing that.

A new Direct Mail Discovery promotion planned for 2027 is designed to encourage new and inactive mailers to enter the channel, including:

✅ 40% discount on the first 5,000 pieces
✅ Additional eDoc submission incentives

For ecommerce brands, digitally native companies, and customer acquisition teams that have been curious about direct mail but hesitant to invest, this could create an attractive opportunity to test the channel with less risk.

It's another sign that USPS isn't just focused on mail volume—it's focused on growing adoption and encouraging innovation.

Yesterday, our Director of Business Development, John Maasik, attended the Henry Stewart Creative Operations Summit in New York City, where he connected with Creative Operations leaders from a variety of brands, reconnected with industry peers, and explored the trends shaping the future of creative work.

A few key themes emerged throughout the day:

• AI is moving from experimentation to real-world application, helping teams scale content creation while keeping human creativity and oversight at the center.

• Creative teams are being asked to deliver more content, across more channels, in less time. Creative Operations teams are playing a critical role in making that possible through strong processes, technology, and trusted partnerships.

• Organizations are rethinking how work gets done, embracing new team structures, hybrid in-house and agency models, and closer collaboration between creative and technology teams.

It was a valuable day of learning, networking, and exchanging ideas with some of the brightest minds in Creative Operations.

And as an added bonus, NYC was full of energy with excitement around the Knicks and international soccer events helping build momentum toward the 2026 World Cup.

What trends are you seeing in Creative Operations and content production today?

Things like:
• Poor audience targeting • Disconnected workflows • Missed postal optimization opportunities • Unnecessary print complexity • Underperforming creative

all carry a higher price tag when every mailed piece costs more.

The brands seeing the strongest direct mail performance today aren't necessarily spending more. They're aligning creative, production, procurement, and postal strategy more effectively.

A couple weeks ago, Brad DeHart joined Philip Ideson on The Art of Procurement podcast to discuss a topic that's becoming increasingly important for procurement leaders: how to build stronger partnerships with marketing and other business stakeholders.

One insight that continues to resonate:
"If you focus on stakeholders' needs and add value, the savings will always follow."

The conversation explores what it takes for procurement to move beyond transactional ex*****on and become a trusted advisor, especially in complex categories like marketing where relationships, speed, and business outcomes matter.

If you missed it the first time around, it's worth a listen.
