I’m originally from Tegucigalpa, Honduras and I moved to the United States in 2006 to attend graduate school at Rochester Institute of Technology. Seven years ago I moved to Jackson, Mississippi where I started working at Solve Design Studio as their Art Director. Also, on the side, I own and operate a freelance graphic design business. eland, Mississippi specializing in graphic design, web design, marketing, and social media. In this role, I am in charge of creative problem solving, conceptualization of strong graphic systems, as well as art direction of print, web and social media related materials. Now, in my freelance business, I’ve worked with a vast array of clients ranging from small local business owners to national nonprofits like the Alzheimer’s Association. I believe I bring a unique perspective to any design project or team I get involved with. I have lived through the blistering winters of upstate New York as well as survived the intense summers of Mississippi. I’ve traveled across Central and North America and spent a part of my developmental years living in Japan. I am passionate about my design work and specifically obsessed with typography. For the past four years, I’ve lectured at a local American Advertising Federation conference for undergraduate students called “Merge” and publicly referred to myself as a “Typogra-freak.”

My favorite part of the design process is the research and sketching stage and I am a true believer that all design decisions should always have a concept and a reason why. In the past, my work has been published internationally and I’ve even represented my country in a Latin American photography competition. Finally, I can publicly admit that the way I organize my computer files is borderline OCD but I can guarantee that it will never take me long to locate a file. For the past month and a half or so, I’ve been waking up around 5:30 a.m. and taking Humphrey on walks through our neighborhood. Our first stop is usually the back entrance of Peelahatchee Shore Park, where there’s a couple of disc golf baskets and a boat ramp of sorts.

There, we watch the sunrise together. I pause whatever podcast episode I’m listening to and make it a point to unplug from everything. I sit on a small bench meant for disc golfers waiting their turn, soaking in the quiet—except for the occasional cawing of crows and the weird crackling sounds cranes make.

Today was special—it was a foggy morning. Here are some shots I took.
