🎬 What a fun night on the red carpet in Nashville!

Highlander Studios, producer of The UPside Conversations, had the pleasure of attending the Nashville premiere of Daniel and the Fiery Furnace—celebrating this epic biblical story coming to the big screen.

I also had the chance to catch up with Daniel and Matthew Kooman, who co-directed the film—and, of course, we turned the cameras on! 🎥 We captured some fun behind-the-scenes conversations from the red carpet that I’ll soon be sharing as a special UPside Conversations Special Feature.

It was wonderful connecting with Mena Massoud, who brings Daniel to life, and Elijah Alexander (The Chosen), who takes on the formidable role of King Nebuchadnezzar, along with Executive Producer Michael W. Smith and his son, film composer Tyler Smith.

And one of the best parts of a Nashville premiere? Running into friends! 🥳 So much fun seeing pastor of pastors Don Finto; David Rives, Executive Director of the Wonders Center & Science Museum in Dickson, TN; film composer Zachary Horner; Lana King, Susan Munao, Joan Tankersley, and Diane Canada and her son.

A wonderful evening celebrating faith, filmmaking, friendship—and a story that has endured for thousands of years. 🔥

What happens when ancient wisdom meets modern storytelling? 🌿🎬
We loved creating this new AI-powered book trailer for our client, biologist, Bible teacher and author Dr. Charles Detwiler, whose book Biblical Wisdom for a Healing Diet explores the fascinating intersection of Scripture, science, food and health.

Our goal at Highlander Studios was to take the heart and message of Charles’ book and translate it into a visual experience—one that feels beautiful, cinematic and alive. Using emerging AI filmmaking tools alongside our decades of experience in storytelling, writing, producing and post-production, we created a world designed to invite viewers into the book before they’ve turned the first page.

What does freedom really mean?

It's a question that takes on a whole new meaning after hearing Dr. Ming Wang's story.

As a teenager during China's Cultural Revolution, he lived in crushing poverty and under a regime that denied freedom of thought, education, and faith. At 17, he escaped to America with just $50 and an English dictionary.

He would go on to graduate from Harvard and MIT, pioneer breakthrough vision technology that has restored sight to millions, and inspire the feature film "Sight."

But what moved me most wasn't his remarkable success.
It was his gratitude.

The UPside Conversations exists to shed light on the subjects of life that are hard to talk about — and this one hit differently.

I recently sat across from author, CPA and former Fortune 500 executive Deborah Smith Pegues last week, and one statistic she shared has stayed with me since: most women will eventually face a season — through loss, or through a marriage that ends — when the finances suddenly become theirs to carry alone. Not because they chose it. Because life handed it to them.

What struck me was how many capable women I know are already equipped for this and don't realize it yet — because somewhere along the way, they were handed a story that said "you're just not a numbers person," and never questioned it.

This is exactly why we do this show. It was a genuine joy to sit with Deborah and not just name the problem, but walk through real, practical solutions — the kind of conversation that leaves you equipped instead of afraid. How ready are you?

Five months ago, we launched The UPside Conversations with one simple hope: that thoughtful, faith-filled conversations could still find an audience in a media landscape full of noise.
This week, we found out that hope is resonating.

The UPside Conversations has earned two nominations from the 2026 CONTENT Christian Media Conference — Best Television & Web Show and Best Podcast. We were also honored to have our conversation with Troy A. Miller, President and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters, featured in NRB's nationally distributed Media Roundup.

And our cinematic AI book trailer, Herod's Eyes – Caught Between Empires, was selected as one of four best trailer productions and will screen at the conference in September.

None of this was the goal when we started. The goal was — and still is — to leave people with more hope, more understanding, and something practical to carry into their week. It's humbling to see that work recognized by organizations we deeply respect.
