Agents had to deduce three physical locations across the Cape and locate their primary informational plaques. The clue, "The boldest crowns mean nothing here," was a directive to skip the bold titles on those signs and strictly use the main paragraph text for the line/word/letter extractions.

// THE LOCATIONS //

Phase I (The Phantom Crown): Described the "theater of salt" and "hollow summit" of Fort Hill. Decoding the plaque yielded: CHASING.

Phase II (The Northern Eye): Described the "jagged grid" of the old Truro Air Force Station. Decoding the plaque yielded: FLOATS.

Phase III (The Exile): Described the "rootless king," the massive glacial erratic Doane Rock. Decoding the plaque yielded: SPEARED.

Plugging ///chasing.floats.speared into the What3Words network dropped a pin in Chatham, directly behind the Marconi Museum, a deliberate nod to the historical themes in the thriller WAVES by our partner Pete. At those exact coordinates, the physical key was stashed inside a hole in a tall, dead tree just off the trail.

And with that, Summer WAVES is a go!

You know the rules: the winner gets a chest full of money, and a matching check to a (preferably local) non-profit of their choice! This time around, the chest will have $1,000!

The boundaries for this hunt are from the bridges to P-Town, so there is some ground to cover! The riddles will lead you to a hidden key, with absolutely no need to disturb nature to find it.

Normally we would give you all a 2-week timeframe to solve the hunt, but as it is our first one in a while, we will give you all a few extra days. You all have until September 8th to solve our riddle before we donate the entire pot! That should give everyone with some time off on Labor Day a chance to get outside!

And as always, leave every place better than you found it, and be sure to appreciate and show some love to this peninsula we call home. THE INVISIBLE BOOK

“Have I done the world good, or have I added a menace?” -Guglielmo Marconi

Summer, 1985. BMX bikes rattle past arcades and clam shacks; mixtapes click from sun‑bleached boomboxes and MTV plays in motel lobbies. A Cold War summit in Geneva and nuclear fusion research share the headlines with pop culture. Though it looks like any other Cape Cod summer at the beach, there is a quiet tension under its salt air.

A shadowed race is underway.

Nearly seven millennia before lobster rolls and drive‑ins, the first cities gathered practical knowledge—how to plant, build, heal, and measure. Over the ages, those fragments coalesced into a hidden codex, passed from scribes to guilds to secret orders, kept out of reach of rulers who sought nothing but power.

The latest guardians called it the Invisible Book.

Not a book you could borrow, but a living archive—crates filled with scrolls, maps, relics—assembled and evolved to preserve knowledge that could retell true human history and steer its destiny.

As the Victorian Era waned and the first wireless sparks began to bind continents, Guglielmo Marconi found his way to the Royal Society in England. Behind that public face sat a secret order—the Invisible College—a name carried for hundreds of years and a fellowship that included Darwin and Newton; the College, struck by Marconi’s ingenuity and the tenor of his thought, welcomed him into its confidence.

Sensing darker storms in Europe, the Invisible College charged him with the Book’s safekeeping as he readied wireless expansion into the US.

In 1903 atop the dunes of South Wellfleet, Marconi sent the first-ever wireless message across an ocean, from Theodore Roosevelt to King Edward VII. Few knew of a hidden cipher, signaling to the Invisible College that the Book was secure and that he and Roosevelt had folded new discoveries into the compendium—breakthroughs in nuclear physics—hinting at a future of clean, abundant power. And weapons.

Then the world changed. The Great War. Marconi’s death. A second World War. Followed by a Cold War that settled in like fog.

The Invisible Book, once tended by a few, appeared to have vanished.

Its resting place was buried in code, in place names, and in the memories of very few guardians who have since passed on. The winds and waves of time erased the trail.

But fragments of that trail remain, scattered across headlands and woods, awaiting discovery.

A Soviet cabal, patient, ruthless, and methodical, bent on global domination, seeks the Book and its nuclear fusion secrets. They scan old frequencies, comb archives, and chase rumors.
Whichever side finds the Invisible Book will prevail in the Cold War and rewrite the future of humanity.

For those who crave a quest—who savor a long walk, the slow pleasure of a puzzle, and possess a curious eye—the Cape offers a layer of story beneath the postcards.

Consider this a summons. Finish the Invisible College’s work. Keep the Invisible Book safe.
