"Old Mill Crab House advertises itself as the best seafood restaurant on Delmarva, and we can see why! With an endless blue crab feast, accompanied by fried shrimp, fried clam strips, hush puppies, and corn, there is literally nothing more that you can ask for. We travel to the Old Mill every summer and are welcomed by the friendly staff, cold b**r, and the fattest blue crabs."

Please join us in welcoming Nick Macia to The Parker Group! 🎉

Nick’s roots in southern Delaware run deep. He’s been visiting his grandparents in Lewes since he was born, so he got to know the area well beyond the summer beach season. “Those visits gave me the chance to experience the area beyond the summer beach season and develop a lasting connection to it,” he says. During college, he spent a few summers working at Grotto Pizza and Dogfish Head, and when he graduated in spring 2020, he moved to Lewes and earned his real estate license.

Nick was drawn to The Parker Group by the importance our team places on the local community. “Southern Delaware has been a big part of my life since childhood, and I wanted to join a team that shares my appreciation for Sussex County and its people,” he says. “Ultimately, I want to give back to the community I love.”

When he’s not working with clients, you’ll probably find Nick at Cape Henlopen State Park, whether he’s at the beach, running, hiking, fishing, or kayaking. If you spot him out and about, his puppy Theo is likely along for the ride. “He has endless energy and loves meeting new people,” Nick says. “If you see us out and about, he’ll definitely want to say hello!”

For Nick, the most rewarding part of the job is helping people through some of the biggest decisions of their lives. “I’ve found that the more challenging transactions can be the most meaningful, especially when someone really needs guidance and support,” he says.

A new chapter at 48 N. Walnut St. with The Crafty Reader 📚

Since The Parker Group was founded nearly 11 years ago, celebrating local businesses and our community has been central to who we are. Our series started as a way to tell the stories of the business owners who make our towns special, and Kori Lewandowski is exactly that.

So we’re thrilled to announce that Kori is moving The Crafty Reader into our Milford office with us! This building has worn a lot of hats. It was a Masonic hall in 1846, and for nearly 70 years it was Lou’s Bootery, where generations of Milford kids got their very first pair of shoes. We love being part of Milford, and our team is staying right here. But we believe the natural light and charm of this historic corner building deserve to be enjoyed every day, and soon the front of the space will be filled with books and community.

Older generations still talk fondly about getting their first shoes at Lou’s. We hope the next generation will tell stories about finding their first favorite book here, making a lifelong friend at a book club meeting, or meeting an author they admire.

Want to hear more? Stop by Wednesday evening during the Milford Halloween Parade. We’ll be open with candy for the kids and c***r and popcorn for the grown-ups. 🎃

Six scrapples, five blind tasters, one perfect score, and one slightly reluctant participant. 🐖

Ahead of the Apple Scrapple Festival in Bridgeville this weekend, our team lined up RAPA, Hughes’, Milton, Kirby & Holloway, and both the mild and spicy from The Family Butcher in Dagsboro. Dustin, Rachel, Julie, Rick, and Pat tasted each one blind.

Around here, scrapple loyalty runs deep, and nobody proved it better than Dustin. The Bridgeville native and ninth-generation Sussex County local guessed every single brand correctly.

Rachel, on the other hand, would have happily sat this one out. She tasted anyway, which we think deserves some kind of award.

It’s a tough market out there.

Buyers are navigating higher rates and higher costs. Sellers are facing more competition, longer days on market, and sometimes a whole list of practical obstacles standing between where they are and where they need to go next. That’s why we’ve been hard at work building better ways to help.

We recently sat down with Leah Rizzo on Coast Life to share a few of the strategies we’ve created across The Parker Group, Neon Lease, and Archie to help sellers keep moving, even when the market isn’t making it easy.

Sometimes that means marketing a property differently so buyers can truly understand what makes it special.

Sometimes it means looking at selling and renting side by side, then building a strategy that leaves both options open.

And sometimes it means solving the obstacle itself—fronting a necessary expense, helping a seller access equity before closing, funding improvements, or creating a way for a family to move first and sell second.

Because not every seller needs the same solution. And in a market like this, simply putting a house on the market and hoping for the best isn’t enough.
