Nothing says July quite like fresh berries, sunshine, and gathering with neighbors and friends. This easy Red, White & Blue Berry Trifle is light, festive, and perfect for summer entertaining — whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, heading to the pool, or celebrating the Fourth of July. Best of all, it looks impressive while being incredibly simple to make!

Red, White & Blue Berry Trifle
A crowd-pleasing summer dessert perfect for cookouts, pool parties, and Fourth of July celebrations
IngredientsCake Layer
1 prepared pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
Berry Layer
2 cups strawberries, sliced
1 cup blueberries
1 cup raspberries
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Cream Layer
2 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups heavy whipping cream
Optional Garnish
Fresh mint
White chocolate shavings
Extra berries
Directions
In a bowl, combine strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Let sit for 15–20 minutes to create a light berry syrup.
In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold whipped cream gently into the cream cheese mixture.
In a large trifle dish or clear bowl, begin layering:
Cake cubes
Berry mixture
Cream layer
Repeat layers until the bowl is full, finishing with cream and fresh berries on top.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
Serving Tip
Serve chilled with sparkling lemonade, sweet tea, or a summer bourbon cocktail for the perfect backyard gathering dessert.
