Hi, I'm Sarah Schwab!
I'm a content marketing expert and strategist, a coach and consultant who's worked with both non-profits and small businesses for the last 20 years!
This "Social Media Fundraiser" was created out of necessity when the board of directors of an organization I'm involved with needed to raise $5,000…
During the board meeting, some suggestions were made, all of which felt like the same-old, same-old. They would be repeats of what we did in the past. Most would take substantial time, effort, and incur some expenses, reducing the overall revenue for the organization.
As a board member and someone with experience in this area, I said "What about a Social Media Fundraiser?"
Without asking too many questions, they thought it sounded like a great idea. We hadn't really leveraged social media very well as an organization and it seemed like an area of untapped potential. They took a vote and said "Great! You can be in charge of that!"
My first thought was "What have I gotten myself into!? I should have kept my mouth shut!"
But at the same time I was excited to be able to use my skills and offer some value to the group, so I went to work. I asked myself...
The real question is... Why do people donate to organizations on social media? Because their friends ask them to!
It's the power of those connections that creates new donors and supporters. You can capture donations from beyond your geographic area. Generate contributions from people who've never even heard of your organization! How? Because when a friend is excited about an organization, I get excited too. I donate because I want to support my friend. My friend really cares about this organization, and I care about my friend.
Of course, one of the challenges with fundraising in general is that most people don't like asking their friends and family for money. I get it! Somehow the platform of Social Media breaks down those barriers and it becomes easier to "make the ask." And not just to one or two close connections, but to tens or hundreds of people we know.
When you do it right, the campaign creates new excitement and engagement for your organization. Plus, it generates much-needed dollars to support your mission.
To make this work, I had to create the process and the materials from scratch, but you don't have to! This program makes it quick and easy to put together a social media fundraiser for your organization.
