🚨An important alert from the Town of Brookfield Police Department: "June 10, 2026:

"Dear Parents and Community Members,

I want to share information regarding a police response at Whisconier Middle School earlier today. At approximately 0940, the Brookfield Police Department received a report that required an immediate response to the school. Brookfield Police Officers responded quickly and treated the situation as a potential emergency while we worked to assess the validity of the information.

Following a thorough investigation and complete sweep of the school, it was determined that the report was not credible, and there was no threat to students, staff, or the community.

We understand that incidents like this can be concerning and disruptive. Please know that the safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority. Our officers worked closely with school administrators to ensure an orderly response, and at all times, the building remained secure.

“Swatting” incidents—false reports intended to generate a large police response—have occurred in communities across the country. While these situations are stressful, they are handled with well-established protocols designed to protect everyone involved.

We are actively investigating the source of this call in coordination with state and federal partners. Anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Police Department. We encourage families to report anything suspicious directly to the PD. Thank you for your continued trust and support."

citizens alert from the Town of Bethel: "The Bethel Water Department will begin its 2026 hydrant flushing program starting Monday, June 8 and is expected to take up to 6 weeks to complete.

Hydrant flushing is necessary to improve water quality and fire protection throughout the system. Hydrant flushing may cause temporary discolored water and/or pressure fluctuations. The discolored water is due to the removal of accumulated sediment, predominantly naturally occurring minerals. Hydrant flushing provides an opportunity to check the mechanical operation of the hydrants and the available flow.

Customers are advised to check the color of their water before using it and avoid washing clothes or using their hot water during periods of temporarily discolored water. If discolored water is present, flush the cold tap in the bathtub or the outside spigot until it clears.

A list of streets to be flushed with an approximate schedule is posted on the Town of Bethel website and will be updated weekly."

Native To Lead Newtown Therapy, a Southbury Counseling Practice. Alexandra Ferris, LPCA, Senior Therapist and Clinical Outreach Specialist, will be managing the newly opened Newtown Therapy office located at 14 Commerce Rd. in Newtown. A Newtown native whose life was shaped by both personal mental health challenges and the community's response to the tragedy is returning home to help lead a new counseling practice serving local families.

Newtown Therapy, a Counseling practice, will officially open Thursday, June 4, at 14 Commerce Road, Suite 105, bringing expanded mental health services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families to the community.

Leading the office will be Alexandra Ferris, LPC-A, Senior Therapist and Clinical Outreach Specialist, who grew up in Newtown and says her own experiences inspired her career in counseling.
