Public Notice
Within the past few hours, the Danbury Police Department learned of a recent social media post by a group known as “Danbury al dia,” shared by others, claiming that the Danbury Police Department is working in coordination with Federal ICE agents. The post says we allowed ICE to come to our headquarters and shared information in an effort to help them identify undocumented residents.
None of this is true. The purpose of this false post is unknown, but it is reckless and undermines the hard work Danbury Police Department members do every day to build and maintain positive relationships with all our residents.
We want to reassure our entire community that we are aware of the provisions and prohibitions outlined in the CT Trust Act. We have complied with this law since its inception and will continue to do so.
While the fear of ICE is real for many of our residents, please know that the members of the Danbury Police Department, sworn and non-sworn, are here to protect and serve ALL of our community members, regardless of immigration status.
Finally, anyone who uses social media is strongly advised to verify information with other sources before sharing or reposting.
