But we also remember the everyday heroes—coworkers, building staff, and complete strangers—who stayed behind in the stairwells to help carry others to safety, risking everything for people they had never even met.

Operating out of Queens, the legacy of that day is woven into the very fabric of this city's resilience. It is a constant, humbling reminder of what true strength and community look like. When the unthinkable happened, the immediate response of thousands of New Yorkers was simply: "How can I help?"
