Now, just as the merger trial is starting, Kroger is involved in a new controversy: The FTC is seeking information on Kroger’s use of facial recognition technology and AI algorithms to profile its customers in real time, in its practice of “surveillance pricing.”

Surveillance pricing refers to charging different people different prices based on personal characteristics, such as the shopper’s age, gender, home address, and buying habits. Stores can even use data on socioeconomic status, credit history, and personal income to set a unique price for each individual.

Until lately, this information has been collected mainly from online browsing and phone apps, to determine how likely a shopper is to buy a certain product.

Now, however, Kroger has allied with Microsoft to develop facial recognition technology enabling identification of individuals and the quick modification of prices in the store through its electronic shelf labels or ESLs. While ESLs were initially promoted as a consumer-friendly technology offering video ads and personalized shopping assistance, now they will also be used to price gouge unsuspecting customers through this new program of surveillance pricing.

We must send letters to Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen to stop this terrible new practice in its tracks! Demand that Kroger stop using facial recognition and surveillance pricing now.

I CALLED TWO WEEKS AGO AND SPENT A FEW HOURS ON THE PHONE BEING PASSED FROM AS***LE TO AS***LE,

- TO REPEAT THE SAME INFORMATION TO EVERY AS***LE,

- TO BE PUT ON HOLD FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME,

- TO BE GIVEN THE IMPRESSION THAT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED

- ONLY TO BE RECEIVE ANOTHER HARASSING EMAIL TODAY ABOUT THE "FAILED PAYMENT" OF $409.

THEY HAVE MY ACCOUNT HELD HOSTAGE SO THAT I AM UNABLE TO MANAGE A DOMAIN UNTIL I PAY THEM $409.

PSYCHOPATHS. SOCIOPATHS.

At the very strong prompting of an acquaintance, I wrote this story after describing my experience to her, and then created it as a video story at the suggestion of a many years' connection.

The title of the story is;

"Going To The Farm, A Grown-up Children's Story
- And You Can Read It To Your Children"

It took 10 hours just to convert the images to look like watercolour paintings, and many more hours to edit the video. It took a few weeks to get whatever images together that I could find. I had to work with whatever images I had as I lack many of the images need to make the visual extraordinary.
I had asked people who are local to the place to send me images, but I got no help there.
So please forgive that the visual could be improved.

Perhaps the government shouldn't be ripping off the citizens of this country, taking everyone's money, buying elections, making laws to skim our hard-earned money for the .00001%,

Perhaps the market shouldn't be rigged,

Perhaps our (NY) governor and mayor shouldn't be in bed with big real estate, creating the homeless situation with off-the-chart housing costs

Perhaps the government shouldn't be allowing corporations to price gauge causing off-the-charts living costs and blaming 'worker compensation' as the cause,

Perhaps the government shouldn't be taking our tax dollars to give billionaires our money to pay for their $26,000,000 private planes,

Perhaps the government shouldn't be subsidizing massive tax waivers for corporations and the C-suites at the top,

Perhaps no person in congress should ever be allowed to claim that social security is anything other than OUR MONEY, WHICH WE EARNED AND PAID all of our lives,

Perhaps the government shouldn't be allowed to borrow money from us all year for free (that is what taxes are), using that money to fund their personal accounts,

Perhaps the government shouldn't be subsidizing the pentagon to rake in bloated government contracts for F16s and nuclear bombs that we do not need,

And perhaps all of those HUNDREDS of TRILLIONS of dollars should to be directed straight to US, the PEOPLE of the United States, who put in all of the money.

The wealth of this country is such that NO PERSON EVER NEED BE HOMELESS, FOOD INSECURE, OR WITHOUT SATISFYING REWARDING OCCUPATION AND WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO BUILD THEIR OWN WEALTH AND OWN THEIR OWN HOUSE.

EVER.

I am a Disruptor Unicorn. I don't fit in your limited box. I deserve to be celebrated and rewarded for the exceptional and unusual combination of talents that I have, not discarded as trash and starved because I don't fit in your limited box.

I challenge those I interact with to expand their view rather than make me smaller to fit their limited parameters.

I challenge you to make your world bigger rather than insisting that I crush myself into your limited box.

I challenge those I interact with to receive me for ALL that I am, and I welcome you to engage with me on the things that are relevant to you as you need. Put down the desire to limit me because you can't imagine someone being capable in all of the areas that I am. I challenge you to discard your limited views of what is possible for a person to be, and open space for all of me.

Specialization is limitation. Focus has value and I would never say otherwise, and there are times when a particular focus is needed. However, insisting that someone only be ONE thing, and only allowing that they are valuable and deserve to thrive on the basis of one criteria, excluding all other elements, is small-minded and trapped in limitation.

How is limitation and close-mindedness healing the world?
Why must I be starved because I am not easily defined by you?
