This election cycle was a tough one, but we’re proud of the victories we helped secure for our clients. That was particularly true in Nevada where unions helped return Jacky Rosen for Nevada to the U.S. Senate and Congresswoman Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford to the U.S. House — despite significant headwinds.

The Hailstone team led the public relations and community engagement strategy for an innovative campaign which resulted in a historic $40 starting wage rate and raises up to 44% for nurses at Western Pennsylvania's largest behavioral health facility. These groundbreaking investments will help recruit and retain frontline nurses and address the growing mental health crisis.

UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, part of Pittsburgh-based UPMC, and union nurses have agreed to a new contract, which was recently approved.

The Hailstone team led the communications for a powerful "Speak Out for Mental Health" which featured high-ranking elected leaders, advocates, academics and frontline nurses. Speakers called for much greater investment in mental health and better staffing at Western Pennsylvania's largest psychiatric hospital!

Nurses and local officials warned Monday of the dangers of low staffing, high turnover and closed beds at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh amid what they described as a dire mental health crisis afflicting the nation. The Hailstone team led the strategic communications to win a $16 minimum wage for Nevada home care workers and a 42% funding increase in the state legislature. Now we're leading the comms for $20. These are the dedicated workers who care for our nation's mothers, fathers, grandparents and loved ones with disabilities. They deserve a better future for themselves and their kids!

Advocates say Nevada is in a home care worker crisis. There is a shortage of workers and it is only expected to get worse.
