Building a loyal and engaged community is so much more valuable than getting more “followers.”
If someone is allowing you to show up in their feed, next to friends, family, and hilarious memes, count yourself lucky! That’s awesome!
The people who give you their attention and their “likes,” they’re your community.
And when you honor this social (media) contract by being authentic, sharing relevant posts, and engaging with the people who have invited you (via your content) into their lives, great things happen.
It starts as a change of perspective: Think of your online “likers” as a loyal community you’re lucky to have as opposed to dirty masses desperately awaiting your next post and you’re well on your way to building a strong brand reputation.
Next, consider what you’re sharing. Is it relevant? Is it on-brand? Is it high-quality? Does it reinforce your brand story and provide value?
So make sure you have the tools and skills necessary to share your authentic self and message, engage in conversations, consider your audience, and, of course, make it beautiful...
And the rest will “follow”!
