Tonight at Irving Plaza! CYMANDE are supporting their first release, RENASCENCE, in 10 years! This is the first date of their tour and should be a fun one. Excited to be seeing them perform.
Last year the feature length documentary, Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande, was released and is available to watch on Apple TV, Prime Video, and YouTube. Chances are you already know their music, just didn’t know it was them.

I don’t think I ever experienced this opportunity to capture Manhattan, the East River, and Brooklyn from the dark evening skies. You can notice the Empire State building to the right. How much electricity runs through the city each day? Think about how much activity, positive and negative, takes place as you fly over it. Now be grateful and appreciative that you’re able to experience all of it!

In December of 1984 the New York Mets acquired All-Star catcher Gary Carter from the Montreal Expos. That same month the New York Yankees acquired the game’s most exciting player, Rickey Henderson. That summer NYC baseball was incredible for an 11 year!
Rickey could turn a walk into a triple. His thighs were barrel shaped and provided strength to steal bases and hit HRs. He could read a pitcher, a moment, and take advantage of it and he many times throughout his 25 year MLB career.
I’m lucky to have grown up and experienced those Yankees years. To learn of his passing today… a really sad moment for the sport of baseball. Rest in Peace, Rickey. Thank you for the inspiration, the humor and years of excitement on, and off, a baseball diamond.

A few weeks ago walking along McGuinness Blvd. these caught my eye. They no longer exist since been they’ve been covered up by new advertisements. As long as you keep your eyes open, you’ll find beauty everywhere.

While waiting for Sheng Wang (hilarious comedian) to perform his second of 4 Sold Out shows at The Town Hall (NYC) last week, I noticed the light and curtains looked like blazing meteors falling towards the stage. Gratefully, it didn’t really happen so nobody warmed.
If you’re unfamiliar with Sheng Wang, visit Netflix and watch his “Sweet and Juicy” special. I highly recommend seeing it.

Pigeons aren’t a problem on our block. They don’t ever fly, they skateboard down the street with great ease. Though I’ve yet to see them drinking coffee.

How many times have you seen advertising posters being taken down AND replaced? The other I was lucky enough to captured the first half. Where collages magically appear and last for who knows how long. I spoke with the guy working and learned the term for this is “Wild Posting.” These photos are part of a magic moment and are now covered by new poster ads.

Our below row neighbors at the recent Yankees vs. Mets series in the Bronx. On this night the Metsies wound up winners as the Yankees offense seemed uninterested. Aaron Judge ended the game by striking out. Summertime, a Yankees game, and being with family. Always a winning combo. for me :-) .mcg

With this Throwback Thursday… The Bogmen at Irving Plaza July 13, 1996!
The very first Bogmen show I attended. Tickets were a birthday gift from sister. My birthday was definitely celebrated to its fullest that evening.
Tonight, May 30th, The Bogmen are playing at Irving Plaza and releasing their new record, In My Kingdom. Special guests, Pan Arcadia. With the advances in technology ticket stubs, like this one, are definitely a thing of the past.

Here’s a throwback to May 7, 2003!
Vic Thrill (band) performing at Nice ‘N’ Sleazy in Glasgow, Scotland! During this UK tour the band played several shows in England, Scotland and Ireland over a two week period. The marketing of “Fred Astaire on crack” - NY Times gave a verbal/visual reference for the music and energy you had to see to believe. I worked w/the band and went over selling merch, meeting fans, and hitting record shops. Fascinating to see shops in England dedicating a bin section to “Williamsburg Bands”. Super grateful to have experienced this special time, only 8 months after 9/11. A big “Thank You” to my mom for saving this flier (and many others).
