Kaye Don VanMeter, age 93, of Bee Spring, peacefully entered into his eternal rest on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. An Edmonson County native, Kaye Don was born on January 11, 1933, to the late Samuel and Hilda Nelson VanMeter. He was blessed to share sixty-five wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, best friend, and faithful help mate, Jenell Davis VanMeter, who survives.

A proud veteran, Kaye Don honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Throughout his life, he exemplified kindness, humility, and a genuine concern for others. He devoted his career to the Edmonson County School System, where he served as both an educator and coach, leaving a lasting influence on countless students and athletes. To many, he was far more than a teacher or coach—he was a mentor, encourager, and trusted friend. Kaye Don had a special gift for recognizing those who needed a helping hand, often reaching out to children who felt overlooked and offering them the love, guidance, and confidence they needed to succeed.

His faith was the foundation of his life. Following God's merciful protection during his service in the Korean War, Kaye Don was saved at Sunny Point General Baptist Church in 1961. From that day forward, he remained a faithful and devoted member until the Lord called him home. Over the years, he faithfully served his church family as both Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School teacher. Kaye Don lived out his Christian values each day through his compassion, integrity, humility, and servant's heart. His quiet example, steadfast faith, and genuine love for others touched countless lives.

In his later years, when he wasn't working crossword and Sudoku puzzles, casting a fishing line, playing golf, or enjoying spirited games of croquet, Kaye Don treasured time spent with those he loved most. His greatest joy was found not in his hobbies, but in the precious moments shared with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the loved ones who meant the world to him. He treasured every moment spent with them and took immense pride in each generation that followed him.

Besides his loving wife, Jenell, he leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kimberly Kaye Miller (Bill) of Louisville and Jason Craig VanMeter (Donna) of Leitchfield; beloved grandchildren, Samantha Brady (Corey), Darien Beatty (Seth), Jameson VanMeter (Bailey), and Alex Miller; great-grandchildren, Mailey Kaye, Kinley Mae, and Mason Clay Brady, Davis Logan and Landyn Reese Beatty, and Walker James and Liam Michael VanMeter. He was also preceded in death by his cherished great-grandson, Beckett Wayne VanMeter, and his siblings, Jack and Toby VanMeter. Though his presence will be deeply missed, Kaye Don's legacy of faith, kindness, service, and love will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, former students, and all whose lives were made better by knowing him.

The interment will be in Sunny Point Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunny Point General Baptist Church, c/o Trevor Ray.
