An exciting project in the works with ! Here’s a look behind the scenes of our first setup, in their factory space.

🎬 the deets: This was such a fun challenge… the LARGEST space I’ve had to light. Their team has been awesome - and thankfully I had the flexibility to turn off the house lights and haul in pretty much ALL of the equipment for this one. Had one or two to spare but ended up using 6(?) lights for this. The large fabric diffusion for our key light was a new technique for me and helped us keep Lyndsay lit evenly and create a more realistic appearance in such a large space. 32bit float external audio gives us a ton of flexibility in post but being boomed we really have nice clean audio right away. Teleprompter on the a cam and a second camera for a closeup and a way for us to help hide cuts (even though Lyndsay crushed it and we’ll need very few cuts 👏). If you read all that you’re a real one - leave me a “🤓” in the comments.

🐐For your viewing pleasure, I present goats.

I came across this film from a few years ago and took some time to rewatch. Usually I watch all my films about 50 times right after I make them… (Haley makes fun of me about it 😐). They often have some sort of new technique or some minor aspect that perhaps only I will ever notice and I like to take the time to appreciate my work when it’s done.

This one is actually a little sentimental to me… this was one of (if not thee) first films I made with my first “pro” level camera a few years ago. The ornery baby goats in the contrasty barn lighting were a great test subject for my new camera. It actually serves as a reminder to me to simplify things a bit too - it’s good to have a plan and know all of the settings but at the end of the day you have to be there and be recording in order to make a video.

🖖Live Long and Prosper, Emma 🤧

The first employee of Tad Fannin Marketing Media did not disappoint - Emma has been a total boss over here for the last year and a half… We’ve been anticipating this moment as she’s been building her photography business, but it’s still hard to see her go. She’s doing some awesome things with that business and YOU should give her a follow over there at Emma’s Creative Endeavors

Wishing you loads of success - peace out, Emma✌️

Talking to you, commercial buyers: I’ll be the first to tell you–hire a photographer because you love their work, not because of their gear list. But when plan your next project, it’s worth considering the influence you’ll need your photographer to have on the final look. As you’re evaluating the prior work of photographers, notice how much of the “look” was found vs. how much was intentionally created. One isn’t better than the other (I’ll take a photogenic subject and beautiful scenery any time), but one certainly gives you a lot more control over the final story.

Professional gear is just a tool. It doesn’t automatically mean a “better” image. But used well, it can be the difference between “getting lucky” with a photo and “making” a great photo. It’s really about having the ability to shape a scene to match a goal. We’re able to create a specific mood, highlight the right details, and ensure your brand looks consistent whether we’re shooting in an open field or an office space.
