Happy National Pickleball Day.

RacFit is a tennis, pickleball, fitness, and social club right here in Buda! They bringing something this community has needed for a long time, eight regulation pickleball courts, four of them covered, programming for all ages and skill levels, and a space built as much for community connection as for competition.

More than a court. A place to show up, get moving, and meet your neighbors. The Cantina is a great place for a meeting or quiet place to get some work done. Open to the public.

Weekend plans? Your Buda Bingo card is calling.

This is the last weekend to fill it up.

Through August 10, explore locally owned shops, restaurants, sweet treats, live music, and more across downtown Buda, collecting stickers from participating businesses for chances to win local prizes.

Every stop is a reason to discover something new. Every square is a vote for the small businesses that make this community worth showing up for.

Turn in completed cards by August 14.

Pick up a card at participating businesses, the Buda Welcome Center, the Greater Buda Chamber of Commerce, or Buda City Hall.

Our August cover features Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright, a career educator with nearly four decades of experience and more than nine years leading Hays CISD. When he arrived in 2018, three elementary schools were failing or in danger of failing. Today, the district is B-rated, with no failing campuses, more than 25,000 students, and programs designed to ensure every one of them has somewhere to belong.

I need your help! It is that time of year.

Boots, Bags, and Bingo is coming up, and I am again collecting wine for the Hays Education Foundation event in February. I need your help stocking the wine pull.

If you have an unopened bottle you would like to donate, I would love to collect it on behalf of the Foundation. Last year, our community showed up. This year, I am hoping we double what we brought in. Let's all meet up at Water2Wine and grab some bottles!

Every bottle goes directly toward funding for teachers and students right here in Hays CISD.
