It's Like Alchemy: Dana Saylor's Brand Transformation

What happens when a brilliant creative professional runs entirely on instinct, and finally gets the structure to match her vision?
We are delighted to share what we learned partnering with artist, historian, and international retreat organizer Dana Saylor.

1. Background on the Business 🎨

Dana Saylor is an artist, painter, writer, historian, and international retreat organizer who brings people together through curated travel and wellness experiences. Her work spans immersive retreats, "slow travel" cultural excursions, and hassle-free family trips, each designed with meticulous care and emotional intelligence. Dana serves curious, intellectual travelers who love history, books, and culture. Her gift is rare. She blends event-planning expertise with creative practice, offering busy individuals and families the luxury of being a follower while she handles every detail.

2. The Challenges 🧭

Dana had passion and talent in abundance, but she was building on instinct alone. She struggled to define her target audience and project her business forward with confidence. Without a clear "why" for her next steps, she felt like she and her business were "wandering." She needed a structured brand framework, one that could turn her natural creativity into a repeatable, professional foundation and strengthen her connection to her ideal clients.

3. The Solutions 🤝

Dana partnered with the Inspired Outcomes Now Collective to build that foundation. Kim McKernan provided strategic leadership, created the brand strategy, established market positioning, and led a branded tagline development process. The brand discovery included facilitated customer feedback sessions that captured authentic client insights. She guided Dana step by step, so Dana never felt lost about what came next. Victor Orozco, Inner Arts & Media, developed the visual identity, designed a new logo, and aligned every creative output with Dana's core values and an aesthetic that would appeal to her customers. Together, they delivered the comprehensive new brand her business needed to move forward with clarity and purpose.

4. Results and Next Steps 🚀

One of the most powerful breakthroughs came from truly knowing her customer. By listening directly to the people Dana serves, the team captured authentic insights that sharpened her messaging and aligned it with what her ideal audience values most. That clarity rippled across every touchpoint, from her tagline to her elevator pitch. Dana now has a finalized brand strategy, a new logo that truly reflects her vision, and foundational brand messaging she can leverage across presentations, social media, and client conversations. Dana is preparing for her next strategic phase: a cinematic animation of her logo. She traded uncertainty for a clear path forward and has the direction and confidence to act on it. Most importantly, as an artist, she achieved an outcome that matched her vision, displayed deep creativity, and remained true to her values.

5. Testimonial 💬

"I think the branding report is the foundational document, which was huge for me because I was struggling to know what to do next. Victor is really good at aligning with the client, getting into their shoes, and seeing things from their perspective. He understood my business even before the visuals came. With Kim, I have a direction and a plan, so I never felt like I didn't know what to do next. She guided me through the process really effectively. I was very pleasantly surprised by the value of what was brought forward and turned into something tangible. It's like alchemy. The investment was absolutely worth it. I would wholeheartedly recommend this entire process to any entrepreneur who is ready to turn their vision into something real."

Dr. William David Yates - Technology Meets Imagination

🌟 Meet an Educator Who Turned a Career into a Passion 🌟

Dr. William David Yates has taught for 51 years and continues to view teaching as a creative act. He serves as an Adjunct Professor, Instructional Designer, and Technology Coach in SUNY Buffalo State's Center for Applied Imagination and holds an EdD in Education Leadership with a specialization in educational technology. Named an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2007, David now works at the intersection of AI and education, exploring how artificial intelligence can strengthen creative learning without replacing the human heart of teaching.

🗝️ What You'll Discover in This Episode 🎧

Episode 60 of the Creative Flow podcast explores how deliberate creativity shapes a lifetime of teaching. Here is what you can expect:
• His path into deliberate creativity
• How technology and creativity meet in the classroom
• His work on AI and education, and on how artificial intelligence can strengthen creative learning
• The instructional design frameworks that guide his work
• Lessons from coaching educators for real change
• His vision for the future of the Science of Creativity

✨ Highlights That Spark Reflection ✨

David explains why he views technology as a creative tool, not a replacement for creativity. He describes how instructional design gives structure to imagination and how strong frameworks free educators to take risks. He also shares his work on AI and education, exploring how artificial intelligence can enhance creative learning while keeping human connection at the center. Drawing on five decades in classrooms, he grounds every idea in practice. His message is clear: creativity can be taught, coached, and scaled when we design for it on purpose.

📚 Books Worth Your Time 📚

David recommends three books that shaped his thinking over five decades of teaching: Pull Your Own Strings by Dr. Wayne Dyer, Mindset by Dr. Carol Dweck, and The Extended Mind by Dr. Annie Murphy Paul. Each left a lasting mark on how he teaches, leads, and keeps creativity at the center of learning.

You don’t own your brand. Your customers do.

It lives in their perception, not in your logo or tagline.

Every interaction shapes it. The phone call. The website visit. The reply that arrives a day too late.

Trust breaks down in the gap between what you promise and what people experience.

You say you’re easy to work with, yet your voicemail is full. You promise expert service, but no one can answer a simple question. Each disconnect chips away at loyalty.

It’s time to be an intentional brand. That is the heart of our A Nu Way® Branding process, trusted by more than 150 organizations to build brands worth remembering.

Your brand does not belong to you. It belongs to your customers. It lives in their perception, shaped by every interaction they have with you, often long before they ever speak to you or meet anyone on your team.

That means the most valuable asset your organization holds is something you do not fully control. You shape it. You earn it. But your customers hold it.

Most CEO’s, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit leaders assume the brand is the logo, the name, or the color palette. Those are touchpoints. Your brand is the heart of your business, and your customers sense its truth immediately.

They also sense the disconnect instantly. You say you are easy to work with, yet your voicemail is full. You promise expert service, yet a junior employee cannot answer a basic question. Your digital presence tells one story, but the in-person experience tells another. Each gap erodes the trust you worked hard to build.

The answer is intentional branding, a documented strategy that aligns your entire organization, not just your marketing team.

In my latest article, we explore:
• Why your brand lives in customer perception, not your marketing materials
• How to eliminate the disconnect between what you promise and what customers experience
• How the A Nu Way® Branding process has helped more than 150 organizations build loyalty that drives lasting growth.

Episode 59 is live! 🎙️ Creativity Meets AI

As founder and principal researcher at Silk Verse AI Labs in Buffalo, Joe Todaro studies how artificial intelligence can expand rather than diminish the future of human work. With a master’s in Creativity and Change Leadership from the Center for Applied Imagination at SUNY Buffalo State, Joe brings deliberate creativity directly into the world of IT.

In this episode, we explore his Mighty C model, the surprising link between creative problem-solving and software development, and his vision for collaborative freedom. Joe calls creativity a “million-year-old habit” and reminds us why human ingenuity remains irreplaceable as technology evolves. ✨
