Just me… standing in some bamboo at the zoo like I had a whole photoshoot planned 🌿

Life lately has been a mix of everything — birthdays, getting things in order for this upcoming surgery (which… yeah, I’m a little nervous about), and trying to keep my head and heart in a good place.

April is here and I can’t even lie… gardening is on my mind heavy. I’m still planting what I can. I know some folks are like “just skip it this season,” but whew… I don’t think I have it in me to not grow something. If you’re into that kind of thing, I share more of it over on Watch What Grows 🌱

Also… perimenopause?? Nobody really prepares you for the randomness of it all. One minute I’m cold, next minute I’m hot, thoughts racing, cycles doing whatever they want to do… chile. We just out here figuring it out in real time.

And let me ask this — when people say “let me know if you need anything”… do they really mean it? Because I’m about to find out 😅 I’m definitely leaning on my village during this surgery season. And I know for me, if it’s my people, I’m pulling up however I can.

Anyway… just checking in. Happy April!
My round up of favorite Spring phone backgrounds going up in my stories if you need a little refresh 📱🌸 (my little monthly thing now)

Alright, bye for now ✌🏾

This wasn’t the season I had planned…
but I’m learning to move through it with a little more grace.

Still glowing. Still growing 🌿
(and yes… still cute too)

But I won’t pretend… this knee injury and surgery ahead?
it’s painful.

Just taking it one step at a time over here.

And whew… my peri sisters…
one minute I’m cold, the next it’s a full hot flash mid-photo 😅...I know y'all feel me, hang in there queens. 🤜🏾🤛🏾❣️❣️

Whew… yesterday was a day 😅
But before the weekend runs off—thank y’all.
Thanks for sitting with me on this little digital porch…
for listening, growing, and just being here.
Hope your Thanksgiving was warm, restful,
and full of food that hugs your soul.

I spent two years practicing pound cakes…
trying to find that one recipe I could trust —
my grown-woman, “I can make this with my eyes closed” go-to.

And friend… this whipping cream pound cake finally became it. 🤎
Soft, velvety, comforting — the kind that brings everybody back to the kitchen.

If you need a dessert that NEVER disappoints, especially for Thanksgiving week…
this is the one I reach for every single time.

Full recipe + the porchside story of how I got here are now on Substack → Watch What Grows 🍰✨

I’ve been trying to be everything + everywhere at once.
And lately, my heart has been asking for something quieter…
something slower… something steadier.

So I’m returning to the porch — to the lessons that grow in the quiet.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin too, overwhelmed, or unsure about your next step…
pour something warm and come sit with me.

I wrote something for us.

Confession time😱… I used to pick mums all wrong

Turns out, it’s not about the prettiest bloom — it’s about the ones still becoming.

Because growth takes time, even for flowers. 🌱✨

Now there is a time and space lace for the ones already bloomed out and that's if you need a pretty flower for a gathering or event like right-right now. They'll hold up for about 2 weeks, some maybe longer-depends. But if you want your mul for the entire fall season, got with one that has very few blooms on it.😉

Pro tip: Before you buy, give your pumpkin a little knock! If it sounds hollow, it’s ready for its close-up.

IYKYK — the pumpkin knock test never fails 😆

🌿 Not everything that looks perfect on the outside is ready inside — pumpkins taught me that 😉🎃

You don’t have to bloom every season. Rest is part of the process too. 🌿

Fall reminds me: growth also happens in the stillness.

Who else feels like fall is the perfect time to slow down and recharge?

Having a little fun with AI voiceovers today! Heavy on "You Guys" and the country accent is taking me out! 😆😅 HILARIOUS.🤣

Anyway, here's the message: 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

Fall is the perfect time to give your houseplants and porch plants a little boost before winter rest. 🌿
Here I am giving all my plants a little extra care with plant food, which I stop feeding at least 3-4 weeks before the first frost date.

🍂 Switch to a balanced fertilizer
🪴 Feed lightly (every 4–6 weeks)
💧 Ease up on watering and water in morning
☀️ Keep them near bright, indirect light

A simple fall feeding helps your plants stay lush and happy through the cooler months ahead.

Harvest days are my favorite! 🍂🌱 There’s just something special about walking through the garden, seeing what’s thriving, and gathering up the fruits/veggies of your labor.

This time was extra special because I got to share it with my little one—her excitement over pulling up those carrots was everything! 🥕💛

For me, gardening isn’t just about growing food; it’s about growing memories, passing down traditions, and finding moments of peace and connection.☀️☮️

Let's be clear- you don't have to have a whole farm with 10 acres to garden, garden where you are! You'll be amazed at what you can grow right in your backyard, rooftop/balcony, and even a bucket.

What’s growing in your garden this season? I’d love to hear about your harvests or your gardening goals for this year.

Let’s keep inspiring each other! 🌸👩🏾‍🌾
