Well it’s equal parts bittersweet and relieving that I share the news that Vinyl Eye Records will be closing for the unforeseen future. I expect to end operations by the end of September/early October. Clone Press will still be kicking on albeit in a different location! It’s been a hoot and a supreme pleasure to be part of the Burien small business community. There are A LOT of great folks I otherwise would not have met, and I even managed to make some good pals along the way. Mostly, I will very much miss the community grown through Vinyl Eye. It was very much an experiment having a record store and screen print shop together in one space. There were somethings left untried and maybe some potential not fully realized but overall it was as good an experience as any I’ve had. It seems even at my ripe old age I still manage to have a little naiveté that prompts me to do reckless things like this! I truly believe in the importance of small bricks and mortar businesses. They are not just retail places providing goods and services for their customers, but places for community, and just something more tangible than sitting in front of a screen and clicking a button. Thankfully there are still two other record stores in Burien to frequent with your business.
Again, thank you all for your support over these last 6 years. I move on with many a fond memory.
