“Pass It On” or The Mossy Oak Song by Tracy Bryd has occupied space in my head for almost 15 years. It was never a mainstream song on the radio or had a music video which I always thought was a shame. I remember hitting the repeat button on youtube so it would play over and over again.

Fast forward to the Spring of 2021 and I was able to complete my single season turkey grand slam with my dad by my side for my 4th and final species a mere 100 yards from where I had killed my first turkey 15 years earlier at the age of 12. A childhood dream come true. Turkey hunting has always felt like home, that’s what Dad and I do, we are turkey hunters. I felt like I wanted to make a video to encapsulate that feeling, spirit, and to give thanks to my Dad who started turkey hunting shortly after the first hunting seasons in Wisconsin since reintroduction of the wild turkey.

In the spring of 2024 my friend Mitch Gordon helped bring this video to life when I approached him about doing a cover song that will be part of a greater short film. Mitch agreed with short notice and little practice truly showcasing his talent as a musician.

The legend and the history around The Fox Vest inspired me to think about generations to come and what I want to pass down some day. I want to pass down a turkey vest to my kids that multiple generations of Koch’s have used to turkey hunt with, much like my Grandfather's Wi******er Model 1100 12ga shown in the video that 3 generations have now carried in the woods. I hope this video stirs up memories of warm spring day with gobbling turkeys like it has for me making it.
